After Trump scolding, McConnell insists ObamaCare repeal will move forward
Source: The Hill
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) insisted the Senate will take a procedural vote to move to ObamaCare repeal next week following a White House meeting between President Trump and the Senate GOP conference.
Next week well be voting on the motion to proceed, and I have every expectation that well be able to get on the bill," McConnell told reporters at the White House after a GOP senators' luncheon with President Trump.
McConnell voiced confidence despite opposition from several centrist Republicans. The GOP leader needs 51 votes to win a motion to proceed to the repeal bill, but four Republicans have said they will oppose it.
McConnell is arguing that the vote will allow the Senate to debate ObamaCare on the floor. He said Wednesday that senators will be able to offer amendments, effectively legislating on the floor.

(7,402 posts)Under regular order the motion to proceed would occur in Committee and send a bill to the floor for debate. Because regular order was not used the full Senate needs to vote instead. Since this vote is not on the bill and amendments can be added on the floor I would expect McConnell can round up the votes for this. The stumbling block once again will be the mandatory CBO score that will show 32 million Americans will lose coverage and that premiums will skyrocket by 100%. How many Republicans will walk that plank?

(562 posts)Trump must feel this loss to his democratic predecessor very personally, especially because he's an illegitimate n***er president in his (and Trumpsters) eyes, and an upheaval of his delusional personal AND racial superiority.
Yes outright repeal will cause the premature deaths of millions his own voters. That's not a concern to a racist narcissist. I don't think his concerns are political. They're personal. In fact, repeal would probably be political suicide.
Hitler turned Stalingrad into a German graveyard because he made the battle a personal grudge match with Stalin, a slav "inferior".
How far will Trump go if he takes this loss as personally? Will Trump supporters, like Germans during Stalingrad, figure out their leader doesn't give a shit about them?
P.S. - yes I just compared Trump to Hitler.
