JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli security forces on Saturday raided the home of the Palestinian attacker who stabbed to death three Israelis and restricted movement for Palestinians from his West Bank village, the military said.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said security forces "surveyed the house of the assailant in the village of Khobar, searched for weapons and confiscated money used for terror purposes. The brother of the assailant was also apprehended."
"Movement out of the village will be limited to humanitarian cases only," she said.
Six people died on Friday in the bloodiest spate of Israeli-Palestinian violence for years. Three Israelis were stabbed to death in a Jewish settlement in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, hours after three Palestinians were killed in violence prompted by Israel's installation of metal detectors at entry points to the Noble Sanctuary-Temple Mount compound in Jerusalem's walled Old City.

Huh? The Israelis already have the actual assailant in custody. Why arrest his brother? And why place the entire village under a sort of lockdown?
I truly do not get it.

(21,786 posts)Bomb exploded? Demolish the house of the bomber's family. Arrest their family members. Illegal under international law, of course, but then so is building settlements in occupied territory.

(2,001 posts)Its just what they do, Surprised they didn't cut the electric and water off to this small community. That's also what they do quite often. Its fucked up on so many levels what they do to these people.

(1,204 posts)That I can see being a possibility. Locking down the entire village, that is harder to explain. Perhaps their thinking is due to the violence that took place over the metal detectors. If so, I would say that course of action would likely just lead to more resentment that sparks more problems rather than preventing them.
I'm trying to be as neutral as possible when trying to figure out motives/reasoning.
