Rudy Giuliani for Attorney General? Trump Reportedly Considering Ex-NYC Mayor

Source: Mediaite

by Aidan McLaughlin | 9:59 am, July 24th, 2017

President Donald Trump is considering replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions with former campaign adviser Rudy Giuliani, according to a new report from Mike Allen at Axios.

The president has publicly voiced his displeasure with Sessions, and Axios described Trump’s “fury” directed at the attorney general after he recused himself from the Russia investigation.

Trump bashed Sessions — who was one of the first Republican lawmakers to back his long-shot bid for the presidency — in an interview with The New York Times last week, and took to Twitter Monday morning to ask why the attorney general was not investigating Hillary Clinton.

Following Trump’s comments, speculation again ignited that Sessions would resign from his post — rumors the attorney general shot down in a press conference.

I just saw that Giuliani said that Sessions was right in recusing himself. This sounds like the type of amateurish trick Trump would play to be able to claim that he doesn't require complete, abject loyalty from everyone he appoints.
He sure couldn't get a better lackey that Rudy to help him obstruct justice.

... but so much time will be wasted while Mueller keeps digging.

Trump's time is running out and he knows it. Sessions is hanging on for dear life and I'm sure he's doing it on purpose. Sooner or later Jeffy-boy will be fired, and then Giuliani (or somebody) will pass the loyalty oath. But he still needs to be approved by the Senate and that's not a given. Especially Giuliani is not a given - they'll toast him for lunch.

Meanwhile Mueller keeps finding more stuff and it's all coming together.

be potentially actionable, but I suspect Rump might actually regards them as a plus. Another body that could be tossed off the wagon to the wolves.

"Axios’s con goes far deeper than simply disguising corporate PR as journalism; it wants to redefine the very meaning of news until it is fundamentally indistinguishable from PR." (My, hasn't the Kochs' investment, Axios, become really big really suddenly? Quoted all over the place, elbowing out others.)

Ghouliani has baggage out the wazoo, although it could be because he is probably neck deep in Russia himself (notably since he was mayor when the Russian mob infested the city and his "cyber security" company was probably linked somehow to the election hacks), so he would have a reason to fight against any investigation. However he could (and should) get nailed himself.

In wonder if there's anyone he wouldn't throw under the bus. Sessions was pretty damn loyal and supportive.

I guess this is just about making the investigation disappear. Ghouliani is, I'm sure, willing to do that.

Trump would do better to nominate Chris Christie, he at least have *some* friends.

It's not a given that a Trump nominee can get confirmed in the Senate for AG at this point. No sane Democrat would vote to confirm, and any three out of {McCain, Graham, Collins, Heller, Burr, Portman, Paul, Murkowski} may really relish the opportunity to embarrass Trump.

And this is before question of Russia over Country are asked.

I don't think the rethugs are going to do anything about 'trumplethinskin'. They'll let the orange cretin run through the entire Federal Justice Department, fring the last person standing until there's nobody left to even sweep the floors. I doubt Trump can find a new AG right now. His lawyers are jumping ship.
