Republican leaders just made a hugely important concession on the Senate health bill

Source: VOX

Senate Republican leaders have reportedly concluded that their particular version of the health care bill, the Better Care Reconciliation Act, will need 60 votes to pass under Senate rules — essentially ensuring that that particular version of the bill cannot pass this week.

But importantly, it still remains possible that Republicans can pass something — the repeal-and-delay bill (the Obamacare Repeal Reconciliation Act), the House bill (the American Health Care Act), or some kind of stripped-down “skinny” repeal — with a bare majority under the reconciliation process.

In that case, nothing gets passed and 22 million people don't lose their ability to afford healthcare and the people age 54-64 won't have their premiums skyrocket by over 1000%.

the insurance companies might give us a breather, and it might give the Dems a chance to soft land this knee-jerk GOP lemming drive to "repeal and replace" the ACA.

Drumpf is going to get his repeal and replace one way or another - under Drumpf, Pence or whomever in the GOP has the immunity idol after the Russia connections have been exposed and prosecuted.
Rich old White Dudes have getting rid of anything Obama as an imperative, and their lobbying efforts are going to have an effect for at least the next three years, even if the Democrats take back the House or the Senate and can start fighting against Democracy Slide.

We just have to be able to pry Wealthcare away from anything Healthcare going forward, and maybe we can end up with a form of Medicare part E or Single payer, or any of the other managed health cost models out there.
I'm sure President Obama won't care if the ACA is replaced by something better for more people; in his position, I certainly wouldn't. And history will still be much kinder to him than to Drumpf and the current GOP crop of creeps.

Plus the healthy Obama voters, the healthy brown and poor people, this makes them angrier than anything on earth.

They will take your healthcare away, I am curious to see what people do when they do.

And remember, just because you have an employer based policy or coverage, that will be completely FUCKED UP too, so this destroys everything.

I wish the 88% of the public that is not paying attention to this, would. How sad are we.

Nevertheless, this will certainly diminish his legacy if he votes in favor of this steaming pile of doo-doo.

Besides the fact he could be now spending meaningful time with his family back in AZ, but instead decided to travel all the way across the country for this vote. Who knows if this is something his Dr. would recommend. I would think he still needs rest time after his recent surgery.

So he is even willing to risk having his life shortened further, by making this trip.....ALL for the vote to repeal the ACA.

Priorities.

Their overpowering desire to kick 20+ million people off insurance should terrify every American because this is just the start. Medicaid, Medicare, SS, SNAP and others are all on the agenda.

let's make the enrollment age for Medicare be 9 months before birth. And then repeal the dreaded Obamacare. Now of course since no thought was brought up in increasing the finances of Medicare, it will fall apart. 2 birds killed with one stone.
