(Reuters) - A California deputy attorney general has been charged with possessing child pornography at his San Diego County home following a months-long investigation, according to court records and local media.

Raymond Liddy, 53, was arrested at his home in the resort city of Coronado, California, on Tuesday and accused of owning images that appeared to depict minors under age 12 engaging in sexual acts, court records showed.

The San Diego Union-Tribune, which first reported the case, said Liddy pleaded not guilty on Wednesday in federal court for the Southern District of California, and that he was placed on administrative leave by the attorney general's office. An attorney for Liddy and a representative of the attorney general's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Thursday.

Court records showed Judge Jan Adler released Liddy on a $100,000 bond and sentenced him to house arrest.

State prosecutor, son of Watergate figure charged with possession of child pornography

A deputy attorney general has been charged in San Diego federal court with possessing child pornography at his Coronado home.

Raymond Joseph Liddy, 53, was arrested Tuesday and has pleaded not guilty. He was granted release in lieu of $100,000 bond during an arraignment the same day and placed on home detention with GPS monitoring.

The Attorney General’s Office said in a statement Wednesday that it was “aware of the matter” and that Liddy has been placed on administrative leave.

Liddy is the son of G. Gordon Liddy, who helped direct the burglary of the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate scandal. He served prison for his role.

I'm not exactly an expert myself, but find it often pays to question sweeping generalizations.

What kind of people are pedophiles?

You are probably correct. However, my point is and has been, that whatever you may personally know about a person, there are still things you don't know about them that may very well be in stark contrast to what you do know. And that things you may deem incompatible might not be.

19. I suspect Dark n Stormy might be like me in a couple ways

Don't like speaking absolutes and usually hedge our bets by qualifying matters, and when we see it tends to cause little flags to pop up that are hard to ignore. Kind of a double edge sword in that it can be annoying to some, but is often times useful when digging in deep. I find people are either annoyed about it because they feel it's stating the obvious (probably in your case), or their mind simply doesn't work in that way.

I could be wrong, though. Dark n Stormy could just be a jerkface.

Just because we haven't been caught doesn't mean we aren't pedophiles. Everbody is guilty until they prove themselves innocent.

The previous poster's first hand observation is more legit then someone making the assumption that since the son was arrested for possession of child porn, the father must be a pedophile.

seems to be based on a misconception. The idea that inappropriate (predatory? hitting on all the women?) behavior is evidence that other inappropriate behavior (being attracted to kids) doesn't exist, seems faulty.

But yes, I 100% agree that assuming the son of a pedophile is a pedophile is baseless.
