Chris Christie Has Another Bad Day At The Ballpark After Yelling At Cubs Fan

Source: Huffington Post

“I called him a hypocrite because I thought it needed to be said.”
By Nick Visser

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie got into a spat with a baseball fan at a game in Milwaukee on Sunday, his latest public relations snafu to cap a month of snafus.

In a video posted to Twitter, Christie is seen leaning over a fan who heckled him, angrily calling the man a “big shot” before storming away with a bowl of nachos.

The governor was at the stadium to watch the game between the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers. Christie’s son works for the Brewers.

A local news reporter for the station WISN12, Ben Hutchison, said he was a relative of the man Christie confronted, Brad Joseph. Joseph told the outlet he yelled the governor’s name “and told him that he sucked,” which sparked the encounter.

I'm inclined to say "A pox on both their houses" in this case. As a public official, Christie should probably have it better under control in public, but he is from Jersey. There's really no excuse to be yelling "You suck" at somebody like that. It takes enormous presence of mind to keep it together under those circumstances. It can actually be a bit disorienting.

That said, he really does suck.

Had I been there I might have instead made a snide comment regarding either Bridgegate or "Beachgate".
Wouldn't have addressed Christie directly, but would have made sure he could hear me.

I mean, that's the whole point of yelling "you suck" at someone, to spark a confrontation. Got no problem with Christie being driven out of a baseball game. If he wants to be treated better in public, he should treat the public better.

I believe he was in charge of closing down the bridge. But there was one detail...people did not talk about. Since he was a federal prosecutor, he knew exactly what proof could be used against him if caught. He left no trail..none..he let his staff take the hit..

...Without evidence of any kind, he gets away...but he doesn't get away in reality. He sucks up to Trump in front of all to see...and remember forever...

...The scene on the beach, that he closed down,,,and used with this family (as his own private beach) ..that scene...and its consequences are for all to see...and remember forever...(and I don't think he ever apologized for that..did he?)..if he did, I never heard it.....

..So, Mr Christy has not gotten away. Too late..his arrogance on the beach..with this family will walk with him the rest of his life. He had the whole beach to himself..well, not really a plane flew over..or copter..or whatever..and defined him...........now and forever..

Christie, ever the Big Shot, can't seem to help himself. He has left a long trail of bad behavior, much of it immortalized on videotape or photographs. And some of that stuff has a LONG shelf life. People can be incredibly stupid (tRump supporters come mind) but sooner or later we catch on. And what we know about Christie is he is just not a nice guy. He can't even pretend to be a nice guy because the jerk that he is oozes out of his pores.

When all the details of Bridge-gate started emerging, Christie showed us the scumdog he is by taking no responsibility for any of it. He allowed those who were loyal to him to take the hit. When the Beach-gate pictures were broadcast, instead of apologizing and having a mea culpa moment, he doubled down on the snarky bit. Once more he was in our faces with venom dripping from his lips, defending the indefensible.

So now he has made his bed....he can lounge in it. His approval ratings, bolstered by family and the few friends he might have left, can't go much lower without digging a hole and crawling in. So who gets the last laugh now, Chris? Go find a job better suited to your personality--- like mafia hitman. Politics just ain't your thing.

public, maybe he should have sprung for some box seats. If he doesn't know how to deal with these people that hate him then he needs to go to a monastery and take vows of silence.

If his iddy bitty widdle feelings were hurt - tough shit. He is a toddler with power and abuses it, screw him, he isn't worthy of respect.

I love how publicant's foist their failings on others..

You'd think with all his politician skin, some of it would be thicker than it is.

Wonder why Christie didn't manage to get the whole game closed, so he could watch all by himself?

In this day and age, it's an honor to be one that is chewed up by Christie.. If he hates you, you must be doing something right.

Lots of people are told they suck at baseball games... Suck it up Christie..

I have to say the only thing Tribblehead accomplished for the American people was taking the shine off "stars" like Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, and Chris Christie. Had one of them been elected, we'd be dealing with competent evil doers rather than the clown currently squatting in the White House.

Cruz will probably revive, like the walking dead, though.

... in baseball its accepted for fans to say who sucks when they suck. Chicago is a great baseball town, we let everybody know what sucks and what doesn't suck. He's a Mets fan, he should know this, because only New York and Boston razz more at a baseball game than Chicago fans.

So Christie can go jump in the lake, he got what he deserved in the place where its acceptable to say that sort of thing.

If his little ego can't handle it, too bad.

"I was seated at the end of our row, and Christie turned around and made his way up the few steps that separated us. As he approached he looked at me and said 'Have another beer,' which caused me to laugh, since I thought it was a decent comeback under the circumstances despite the fact we hadn't been drinking at all, but Christie quickly made it clear that he wasn't joking around. He came a few inches from my face and began to call me a 'big shot,' and a 'tough guy,' and asking 'what are you gonna do now?' He was close enough that I could feel his breath on my face as he shouted at me. He never denied being a hypocrite. Then, his right foot stepped well outside of the aisle and into our row, and he began to hit my leg with his knee in an aggressive fashion.

At this point I heard someone ask 'what is going on?' to which I turned and calmly replied, 'well, this guy is accosting me.' Christie was incredulous at this characterization of the interaction, despite the fact that he was the one who initiated physical contact, and despite the fact that his tone and conduct were intended to provoke a reaction to which his security detail could respond. I sat calmly in the back of my chair as Christie became frustrated with my refusal to turn a verbal confrontation into a physical one. After calling me a big shot a few more times, he relented and turned away, as I thanked him for his opinion."

After that, Joseph recounts some of Christie's security detail coming over and "threatening all of us with being 'locked up,'" before walking away. Joseph went on to say that while he regretted saying "You suck!" he did not regret calling the governor of New Jersey a hypocrite. He also said that after the incident many strangers online have assumed him to be a liberal, but that is not the case.

"I am a registered republican and I voted for Donald Trump, but my politics do not fit conveniently into one box or another. I do think that Chris Christie is an embarrassment to the party and his ties to Trump during the campaign gave me great cause for concern. During a discussion last year before the election, where I argued that Hillary Clinton ought to be prosecuted for her corruption, a friend challenged me about corruption within the republican party, and specifically asked about Chris Christie. I said then that it doesn't matter which party someone is from, the system breaks down if we ignore hard evidence of corruption because the person happens to share our opinions on some other issue. That friend told me today that I put my money where my mouth is by calling out Chris Christie in public."
