Trump Drops To New Low, Close To 2-1 Disapproval, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds
Source: Quinnipiac
President Donald Trump plunges to a new low as American voters disapprove 61 - 33 percent of the job he is doing, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today. White men are divided 47 - 48 percent and Republicans approve 76 - 17 percent. White voters with no college degree, a key part of the president's base, disapprove 50 - 43 percent.
Today's approval rating is down from a 55 - 40 percent disapproval in a June 29 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University. This is President Trump's lowest approval and highest disapproval number since he was inaugurated.
American voters say 54 - 26 percent that they are embarrassed rather than proud to have Trump as president. Voters say 57 - 40 percent he is abusing the powers of his office and say 60 - 36 percent that he believes he is above the law.
President Trump is not levelheaded, say 71 - 26 percent of voters, his worst score on that character trait. Voter opinions of most other Trump qualities drop to new lows:

(5,730 posts)Let's just hope the generals have back up plans. Maybe even McMaster is indulging him somewhat, for the sake of keeping the generals in control. Never thought I would wish for that.

(5,810 posts)And probably there is a hard core of the base that will stick with him through thick and thin. But there are factions within his base that are weakening in their devotion. Never enthusiastic to begin with, they have eyes and ears and can figure out he isn't going to deliver on his promises. His erratic behavior, the Tweeting, the back to back golf trips, calling the White House a dump, acting guilty and doing things every day that obstruct justice are not helping them have confidence in his ability to govern. Or to even make a simple statement without lacing it with lies.
He will, without a doubt, claim the polls of today are FAKE NEWS and try to convince his followers to ignore them. Now that they've had a taste of what having him in the Oval Office really is and have seen the chaos that defines his presidency, their ardor might be cooling off a bit. The rest of us can sit back and say, "told ya so." Only thing is, even though we knew it would be bad, I am not sure we ever envisioned the sh*t storm it has brought upon us.

(19,038 posts)That is still extremely disappointing. I think he will have to hit less than 50% among the GOP before he's booted.

(71 posts)FiveThirtyEight's poll of polls today has the SleazeMeister's approval at it's lowest ever, 37%.
Rasmussen today reports his approval index at -25, again the worst ever for Trump. For the first time, 50% of those responding to Rasmussen strongly disapprove of the president's performance.

(51,584 posts)either his insane behavior becomes dramatically worse forcing his heavy Repub cabinet to use the 25th Amend or he causes too much damage to the House Repub for 2018 and they turn on him using impeachment as an excuse. Even if Mueller finds tons of evidence they still may be reluctant to do so as long as they benefit. His base won't bail unless their own personal pocketbooks feel the pain (not the stock market).
