Donald Trump Jr., Manafort also send data to Judiciary panel
Committee may hold public hearings on Russia in late September
Donald Trumps presidential campaign, his son Donald Trump Jr. and former campaign manager Paul Manafort have started turning over documents to the Senate Judiciary Committee as part of the panels expanded investigation of Russian election-meddling.
The Trump campaign turned over about 20,000 pages of documents on Aug. 2, committee spokesman George Hartmann said Tuesday. Manafort provided about 400 pages on Aug. 2, including his foreign-advocacy filing, while Trump Jr. gave about 250 pages on Aug. 4, Hartmann said. The committee had asked them last month to start producing the documents by Aug. 2.
A company the Judiciary panel says has been linked to a salacious "dossier" on Trump, Fusion GPS, and its chief executive officer, Glenn Simpson, have yet to turn over any requested documents, Hartmann said.
The committee asked for all records regarding any attempts or interest in obtaining information about Hillary Clinton from Russian government or affiliated sources, including the June 2016 meeting of Trump Jr., Manafort, Trump senior adviser Jared Kushner and a group of Russians including lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.

(19,199 posts)these documents haven't been gone over with a fine toothed comb BEFORE being handed over, they're as crazy as our preznit.
These career criminals have done nothing but lie and obstruct since day one, and they aren't going to give the Judiciary ANYTHING incriminating. The Senate investigation will get nowhere with these criminals, because there are Trump loyal Senators steering it in directions where there is no "there", there. The entire GOP is complicit in this dog and pony show.
The only hope we have is Mueller's investigation, because the Trump cabal doesn't know in which direction that investigation is heading, and there's no Trump loyalists blocking it's path. It could be going anywhere, at any time.

(521 posts)Looks impressive to say that Trump turned over 20 thousand pages of documents, but I give odds that lots of those pages are barely written on, have nothing relevant or even coherent on them, and are just plain useless. And, you can be sure, this was not an accident.
Of course, if you (or the Committee) complains about this, the Trump White House would say something like 'We were told to deliver EVERYTHING. And if we had picked through it and pulled pages out we're sure the Democrats would have complained about the delay and about the missing pages. So there." And of course, it's a terrible burden on the Congressional Committee and anyone who works for it to sift through this mountain of paper. Very probably if someone had the time and the authority to sift through all that stuff and throw out the useless pages, it would probably shrink down to a couple of thousand pages quickly - but that's unlikely to happen.
