Federal investigators sought cooperation from Paul Manafort’s son-in-law in an effort to increase pressure on President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, according to three people familiar with the probe.

Investigators approached Jeffrey Yohai, who has partnered in business deals with Manafort, earlier this summer, setting off “real waves” in Manafort’s orbit, one of these people said. Another of these people said investigators are trying to get “into Manafort’s head.”

Manafort, who is a focus of the broad federal and congressional investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign, is also under investigation for his business and real estate transactions, including some that involve Yohai.

That probe has accelerated in recent weeks, according to one of the people familiar with it.

Maybe the point was to spook Manafort.

5. I don't think so. You can't get a search warrant to spook someone.

They had to go before a judge and present enough evidence to show probable cause that a crime had been committed. Now, once they got the warrant they executed it in a manner to spook the entire lot of criminals and traitors.

He's been under investigation for months. Tossed the computer, got rid of papers and electronic docs.

I also wonder how they could possibly search the whole house. A person can hide physical papers just anywhere. In a corner of the attic, under a joist. A slit in carpet in out of the way place, with a few papers tucked underneath. Underneath a floor board. They must spend a lot of time in a house to search it. Unless they got specific subpoena for the computers and files that were in a filing place or office.

among other things a not-so-subtle hint that if they could slip into the house, the next night visitors might be sent by Putin and a lot more lethal. Much like the horse's head in the Godfather.
