London Jogger Who Shoved Woman Into Buss Path Is Arrested

LONDON — . . . .

A man believed to be the jogger who shoved a woman out of his way — knocking her down and into the path of a bus, which nearly hit her — was arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm on Thursday, the London police announced.

The encounter occurred around 7:40 a.m. on May 5, but it came to the attention of the public only this week, when the police released surveillance video that was widely shared online.

In the video, the jogger, wearing a light gray T-shirt and blue athletic shorts, can be seen running on the sidewalk (in Britain, the pavement) westward along Putney Bridge, which crosses the River Thames in Southwest London.

The jogger passes a man in a business suit, who is walking east. Moments later — and seemingly at random, out of nowhere — he abruptly and violently shoves another pedestrian, who was also walking east, into the path of an oncoming bus.

shouldn't it be "throw him at the bus'?
I mean, it's England. They gotta have seige weapondry around. A catapult or trebuchet should be able to do it. No problem.

But, seriously, glad they caught the guy. He hit her and never looked back. Nothing I saw showed any caring about what he did. But that bus driver did a good job of not hitting her.

The businessman was on the curbed area, she was on the path.
What a piece of garbage.

The jogger was in the middle. He should have been on the opposite side of the path.

I run and deal with walkers all the time. I do something really creative to fix the issue: I nod hello and go around them. LOL

This was a deliberate assault, not a reaction to someone in his way.

And even if she blocked his way or if she said something rude, that's still something only a raging lunatic would do.

I used to work in an area that was home to alcoholics and mentally ill men.

One day, while walking to my car, I saw one of the crazier, crazies approaching. He was a very tall guy and was muttering/humming loudly to himself as he walked. Wanting to give him plenty of room, I eased over to the curb side of the sidewalk. Didn't work. As we passed, he slammed me in the chest with his elbow, pushing me into the street.

He never paused, never stopped his chanting.

And don't criticize me for saying "crazy". Some of these men fit no other description.

A 41-year-old man arrested by police after a jogger apparently pushed a woman into the path of a London bus will face no further action.

Eric Bellquist was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, but on Saturday police said he had now been eliminated from the inquiry.

Bellquist’s lawyers said he had irrefutable proof that he was in the US at the time of the incident, which happened on Putney Bridge in west London on 5 May.

Police have renewed their search for the jogger, described as a white man aged early to mid 30s, with brown eyes and short brown hair. He was wearing a light grey T-shirt and dark blue shorts.

His claim to have been in the US seems to be backed up with evidence.

I'm guessing someone saw the video and called in a "tip" or something?
