ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- A billionaire hedge fund manager has apologized for saying that a black New York state senator has "done more damage to people of color than anyone who has ever donned a hood" because of her support for teachers unions.
Daniel Loeb issued a statement saying he regrets the language he used in the Facebook post about Senate Minority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, a Yonkers Democrat. The post was an apparent reference to the Ku Klux Klan. It was deleted late Thursday.
Loeb is a top donor to Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo and a leading charter school supporter. Top Democrats denounced his comments. Cuomo's spokesman called them "entirely inappropriate."
Stewart-Cousins' spokesman said Loeb should be "ashamed of his disgusting comments," adding that they speak volumes about the state of New York politics.

(13,305 posts)I really wonder how many people around the country are aware of this shit show of a situation in the state that is the fault of Dems and Dems only.
Democrats hold more seats in the state house, AND the governership, but since a bunch of "Independent Dems" caucus with and throw their support behind Republicans, the R's control the state. A blue state. A Deep fucking blue state.
AND the racist clown that said this in the first place is a Cuomo donor and supporter.
But yeah, tell me again how conservadems are better than no dems and how we can always trust them to vote for our leadership.
Yeah. Right.

(15,805 posts)would strike out at someone who opposes privatizing public education so rich guys like him get even richer. Now that he's revealed his true colors, why would any Democratic politician accept any money from a man like that?

Dems are not always staunch supporters of strengthening public education and/or listening to experienced educators who understand the system and who have in mind the best interests of the children and families that they serve (as we have seen in the past). I will leave it at that.
