CNN: Trump wanted economic remarks at top of Charlottesville statement

Source: The Hill

CNN is reporting that President Trump insisted that he speak about the growing economy before remarks on Charlottesville, Va., in which for the first time since last weekend's violence he called out white supremacist groups for their actions.

"We are told by our White House team — and this is as telling as it gets — the president insisted on putting those economic remarks at the top of his statement before he got to the events in Charlottesville, before he got to his denunciation of the KKK and other hate groups," host John King reported on CNN's "Inside Politics."

"That was the president's call," King added.

Trump talked about his administration's economic efforts for more than a minute before turning to remarks on the weekend violence in Charlottesville during a five-minute on-camera event at the White House.

CNN's Chris Cillizza nailed it earlier:

Yes, Trump was forced into saying what he said today.

The fact he started with economy/jobs is his little rebellion.

It's always about him. He had to commence with an economic lie and then read by rote a statement that was meaningless to him.

How he slimed his way into the Oval Office is beyond me.

I actually thought the US would have learned something after 8 years of Bush. But after 8 years of real leadership under PRESIDENT Obama, we were lulled into a sense of security and hope.

We have to unite in the spirit of peace and the future of the planet to get this abomination removed from office, along with his infestation of hate-mongers.

... the Loser-in-Chief and his sycophants will be shrieking it's all that goddamn Obama's fault.

To which we MUST smugly remind them: "I thought you guys said Trump was the best! How is that dastardly rascal Obama outwitting him by trashing the economy/job scene months after he left office? Do you ADMIT that Trump is powerless to counteract Obama's nefarious schemes?"

But freight brokers, trucking companies and owner operators are complaining that things are slowing down.

IDK, maybe that's all gamesmanship on their part. But I am seeing more of those messages in the freight groups I follow. If that's right, expect the bubble to pop fairly soon.

a racist, a bigot, a sexual predator, thief, habitual liar, vindictive, petty, narcissistic chicken shit coward of the highest order. Even the fucking grand wizard(kebler elf) put out an appropriate, even if he doesn't believe it, statement. Trump has left very little room to not consider him the worst president this country has ever had.

he just wanted us to understand how the economic benefits of his administration (which there haven't been any BTW) are well worth all this other negative stuff. You know, there's a cost to everything.

This guy is a real creep, not to mention just plain evil.

he still "loved" them and was still supporting them.

Whatever he said in the microphone at the White House was different than the probable phone calls he made to Duke and Spencer in private. I'm sure they know he was pressured into saying what he said.
