Campbell CEO resigns from Trump's manufacturing council, moments after strategic and policy forum di

Source: CNBC

Campbell CEO Denise Morrison has resigned from the president's manufacturing jobs initiative.

"Racism and murder are unequivocally reprehensible and are not morally equivalent to anything else that happened in Charlottesville," Morrison said in a statement. "I believe the President should have been – and still needs to be – unambiguous on that point.

"Following yesterday's remarks from the President, I cannot remain on the Manufacturing Jobs Initiative. I will continue to support all efforts to spur economic growth and advocate for the values that have always made America great."

This story is developing. Please check back for further updates.

The members of Trump's main business council discussed disbanding the group entirely according to multiple reports.

According to the New York Times' David Gelles, Landon Thomas Jr., and Kate Kelly , the members of the Strategic and Policy Forum held a phone call on Wednesday to discuss the future of the council and their relationship with the White House.

The group hoped to inform the White House before publicly annoucing the decision according to Bloomberg.

The discussion comes two days after the departure of Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier from Trump's manufacturing council, another one of the White House's meetings of business leaders, set off a wave of departures from that group. Frazier and other business leaders cited Trump's muddled response to the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia as the impetus for the exits.

Dump's tweet is nothing but a very weak attempt at spinning. This is a major slap in the face for Orange Psycho from the business community.

How sweet it is!

The guy from Merck was just fine and dandy for Donald "not a moral bone in my body" Trump. Until he quit in protest. Then suddenly his company is a thieving pack of price-gouging scoundrels!.

It's the old "he hits back harder" yadayada thing that so many idiots seem to admire. Because that's a good role model for our kids.
