Reports: Bannon Was 'Thrilled,' 'Proud' After Trump's Charlottesville Presser

Source: Talking Points Memo

By MATT SHUHAM Published AUGUST 16, 2017 2:47 PM

White House chief strategist Steve Bannon was reportedly “thrilled” and “proud” after President Donald Trump’s comments Tuesday that not everyone who attended a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend was worthy of condemnation.

-snip-

Many in the White House have communicated to reporters — off the record — that Trump’s statements made them uncomfortable. For Bannon, at least according to unnamed sources familiar with his opinion, the opposite is true. An unnamed “friend” of Bannon’s told Politico the adviser was “thrilled” with the remarks. And an unnamed source “close” to Bannon told Bloomberg he was “proud” of Trump’s performance.

Bannon has a history with many of the groups and ideologies present at Saturday’s rally, which descended into mayhem and violence and resulted in the death of one counter-protester after a man who had earlier been photographed with white supremacists allegedly rammed his car into a crowd.

“We’re the platform for the alt-right,” Bannon boasted to Mother Jones
in July 2016, referring to Breitbart News, the conservative platform he used to run before joining Trump’s campaign for President, and eventually, Trump’s White House.

“Alt-right” is a loose term generally used to refer to the internet savvy countercultural movement of white supremacists and misogynists.

sounded exactly the same. Miller, Bannon and Gorka need to go but they never will. They have the same father (the fatherland/Germany)

because e-mails, unlikability, Wall Street speeches, Clinton Foundation, Chelsea and her hedge fund husband, Saudis, neoliberal, superpredators, or whatever other bullshit they tattooed into their brains to convince themselves that Trump was no different from Hillary, or that a Hillary defeat was to be the foundation for creating some kind of uber-leftist utopia supermajority...

"Turd Way", "authoritarian", "Keystone pipeline 'will be approved you watch'", "no difference between parties", etc.

We are now living the beginnings of what REAL "authoritarianism" means when demands are made for all info for voters including social security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, party registration, etc., and subpoenas are issued for IP addresses of anyone who frequented a particular "resistance" website... All while every rule and regulation put in place by Barack Obama relating to climate, clean air and water, and ecologically-sound energy sources, as well as E.O.s related to LGBT and women's rights/choice, are in the process of being jettisoned, delayed, or weakened, and funding for subsidies for the ACA healthcare exchanges are under threat for being eliminated.

20. Bannon: I want Democrats to talk about racism every day

White House Chief Strategist Stephen Bannon condemned white nationalist "clowns" in an interview Wednesday, but continued to hit Democrats over "identity politics", saying if they talked about race every day he could ensure Republican election victories.

“The Democrats, the longer they talk about identity politics, I got ’em," the former head of Breitbart told The American Prospect in an interview. "I want them to talk about racism every day."

"If the left is focused on race and identity, and we go with economic nationalism, we can crush the Democrats,” he added.

Bannon's comments came after a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va. turned violent over the weekend, resulting in one death and at least 19 injuries.

Steve Bannon's White House colleagues can't believe what they're reading tonight — and here's the twist: neither can Bannon.

The White House chief strategist has told associates he never intended to do an "interview" with an editor at the American Prospect, a left-wing publication.

Bannon has told associates that he admired the author's stance on China, and so called the journalist, Robert Kuttner, on Tuesday, to discuss his piece. Apparently Bannon never thought that the journalist might take his (very newsworthy) comments and turn them into a story. It's Anthony Scaramucci all over again (minus the curse words.)

The result is not good for Bannon, who is already under pressure, with colleagues lined up against him and a president who agrees with him ideologically but tells associates he thinks Bannon is a leaker.

Basically we're all supposed to believe he made a stupid drunk call, or so it seems.
