Statement by President Donald J. Trump on the Elevation of Cyber Command

Source: The White House

I have directed that United States Cyber Command be elevated to the status of a Unified Combatant Command focused on cyberspace operations.

This new Unified Combatant Command will strengthen our cyberspace operations and create more opportunities to improve our Nation’s defense. The elevation of United States Cyber Command demonstrates our increased resolve against cyberspace threats and will help reassure our allies and partners and deter our adversaries.

United States Cyber Command’s elevation will also help streamline command and control of time-sensitive cyberspace operations by consolidating them under a single commander with authorities commensurate with the importance of such operations. Elevation will also ensure that critical cyberspace operations are adequately funded.

In connection with this elevation, the Secretary of Defense is examining the possibility of separating United States Cyber Command from the National Security Agency. He will announce recommendations on this matter at a later date.

Through United States Cyber Command, we will tackle our cyberspace challenges in coordination with like-minded allies and partners as we strive to respond rapidly to evolving cyberspace security threats and opportunities globally.

The Trump Administration wishes to create a super-agency to oversee cyber-intelligence, intelligence professionals he is at war with. He would like nothing more than to control them.

Fortunately, intelligence professionals are not so easy to fool. Attempts to politicize cyber-warfare will be rejected and fought by intelligence professionals. They are not dumb political hacks like the POTUS and his lackeys.

Multiple ISPs are usually involved in a data path/internet call/email/similar data calls, could have multiple ISPs handling a call via many different front-end processors also, and identifying culprits who truly originate a call (and then knocking it down, etc.) is the hardest part, since must coordinate w/ many different entities is required.

Maybe they can get their act together (U.S. and/or NSA cyber command) enough to make a dent, e.g., coordinate w/ multiple network control centers, track truly where a call originates/terminates, knock down, etc. but I don't think so...otherwise, commercially available network control centers would have already done.

Therefore I am totally suspicious of any and all new strategies that come from the orange assface.
Does this have anything to do with Bannon getting kicked out of the NSC meetings and he wants control/influence over the Cyber Command? What's the benefit to drumpf of getting this separated out from NSC. He does nothing that doesn't benefit him personally, one way or another, so bet he's up to no good, as always.

Trump wants to move on fast from defense of marchers... wants to change subject to America-under-siege.

It's still going to be a DoD entity, so there's not going to be a major change of personnel, frankly, of mission.
The only change is that they might have more control over their budget, won't have to get final permission from StratCom for internal agency decisions, and move up to a better chair when there's a Joint Chief's discussion.
