Russia probe unearths attempted meeting between Trump campaign and Putin: report
Source: The Hill
A top Trump aide emailed campaign officials last year about an individual seeking to arrange a meeting between top campaign officials and Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to a new CNN report.
The email, sent by Rick Dearborn who is now President Trump's deputy chief of staff, was unearthed by congressional investigators probing possible ties between the Trump campaign and Moscow.
The identity of the individual who sought to arrange the meeting is not clear. CNN reported that the person was referenced as being from "WV," which one source said meant West Virginia. Another source, however, told the network that the individual may have had political connections in West Virginia.

The email was sent in June 2016, which is around the time that Trump campaign members, including the president's son Donald Trump Jr., met with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower who had promised compromising information on Hillary Clinton.

(20,638 posts)There's no surviving this. This morning on am joe Blumenthal said the dossier and the testimony and maybe even the 40K pages will be released to the public.
The gop can't return to the polls without taking sides. THe press won't allow it. He's toxic. They'll have to distance themselves by impeaching the cretin.
He'll resign because his companies can't withstand the scrutiny of the investigators. He's not going to jail, so, he's got to cut a deal to leave. I think that's what his current blather is about: Keeping his numbers high enough with the bubba vote to negociate for a better release and no prosecution.

For the sake of accuracy, looks like he got $568,000,000
That seems a tad bit fishy to me...

(51,129 posts).... While many details around the Dearborn email are unclear, its existence suggests the Russians may have been looking for another entry point into the Trump campaign to see if there were any willing partners as part of their effort to discredit -- and ultimately defeat -- Hillary Clinton.
Dearborn's name has not been mentioned much as part of the Russia probe. But he served as then-Sen. Jeff Sessions' chief of staff, as well as a top policy aide on the campaign. And investigators have questions about whether he played a role in potentially arranging two meetings that occurred between the then-Russia ambassador to the US, Sergey Kislyak, and Sessions, who has downplayed the significance of those encounters.
Dearborn was involved in helping to arrange an April 2016 event at the Mayflower Hotel where Trump delivered a major foreign policy address, sources said. Kislyak attended the event and a reception beforehand, but it's unclear whether he interacted with Sessions there. ...............
