Driver pushes into protesters in St. Louis street; injuries said to be minor

Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch

ST. LOUIS • A man had his middle fingers raised when he drove through a group of protesters blocking an intersection after a vigil in St. Louis on Wednesday night, a witness said.

Keith Rose, who was among the protesters, said he saw the incident and could see the driver of the car as he made his way down Manchester Avenue.

He said the driver, who he described as a middle-aged man, at one point stopped his car for a few seconds before accelerating gradually and driving into the group at Manchester and Sarah Street.

Rose said that a protester was thrown over the hood of the car by the impact and others were hit by the car.

Republicans are actively encouraging this through hate radio blowhards or snarky Faux News talking heads - and through more concrete ways.

GOP state legislators in Florida, North Carolina, and elsewhere are actively pushing laws designed to protect - and thereby encourage - this type of crime.

Prayers to all the injured for a speedy recovery - and for justice.

Arguing that the driver was "scared" afterward is bad enough, but suggesting that it is in any way ok seems blatantly wrong. Not to mention, I can't imagine they would feel the same if a car ran into one of their KKK/WS protests.

trouble than when the repukes run into the Democrats? Not that Democrats tend to be violent like repukes tend to be. Just a question.

Fox Noose would be all over it, encouraging its followers to attack any and all who look like they might be libruls.

and only half set it off. Lift driver's license for indeterminate period, same for guns, mandatory psych evaluation and counseling, severe penalties for driving.

for safety reasons. I'm sure that driver is locked into his car and can't escape, so the driver's side window needs to be broken to give him an escape path. Just to make sure, it might be a good idea to break out all the windows, just in case, you know...

to save someone's life or something. Car windows, like the ones in that MB, can be replaced, but a life can't. I'd try to rescue that driver, for sure. There must be something wrong with him that needs professional medical attention.

did you watch the video of this at the link. They surrounded that car as it came down the street that is threatening behavior. I don't blame this guy for trying to get away from them.

It's a dick move IMHO.

Obviously running them over is not the answer but blocking someone just going about their daily lives and surrounding their car can be very scary for people and I don't find it the least bit surprising people just want to get away.

And my truck is surrounded like this car was you can bet your ass I am getting out of there. If you are in my way, that's too bad.

If there protesters were carrying nazi and confed flags you you object?

What am I supposed to do? Get out and get my ass kicked?

This seems to be a different scenario from running into an ongoing protest like in Virginia.
