White House says Trump may visit Texas, warns of Harvey: 'This is a serious storm'

Source: The Washington Post

August 25 by Mark Berman

A top White House adviser on Friday urged people in Texas and Louisiana to take Hurricane Harvey seriously, pleading for residents to listen to state and local officials as the potentially catastrophic storm approaches.

“This is a serious storm, as you’ve seen from the reporting,” Thomas P. Bossert, assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism, said at a briefing Friday afternoon. “This could remain a dangerous storm for several days, and certainly we don’t want to lose any life.”

Bossert said President Trump is considering signing a disaster declaration Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) requested on Friday. In a letter to Trump, Abbott said that due to the increasingly dire forecasts, it appears Texas will be unable to fully handle the necessary emergency response.

“Hurricane Harvey’s rapid intensification has furthermore resulted in strained resources,” Abbott wrote to Trump. “Considering time sensitivity and anticipated geographic scale of the storm, the scope of this event will rapidly overwhelm the state’s ability to provide response and recovery assets to save Texans and protect property and critical infrastructure.”

Until all relief efforts are cemented and well under way. The last thing that's needed in a disaster zone is a primping premadonna expecting all eyes on him.

When the truck arrives he'll pretend to be actually doing something just long enough for his fat ugly face to have it's photo taken, then he's back in his limo or helicopter.

And wondered why an expected Cat 3 Hurricane would warn Texas of a possible worse fate...
As for what Drumpf has said about Harvey hitting Texas - I'm totally appalled. I've experienced his comment before when one of my employers went public, and the MIC vultures were just waiting to buy off pieces of us in a hostile takeover to get rid one of the main competitors to their pet companies. Greed on all sides.

Any corporate "leader" who says "Good Luck" in the face of impending disaster implies "I got my Golden Parachute; as for the rest of you - You're on Your Own..."

Presidents should not go to disaster sites because they just get in the way. Some people who have not evacuated must be freaking out. The government has just told them to write their names and social security numbers on their arms so they can be identified.
