In First Words To UN, Trump Praises Trump-Branded Condo Next Door

Source: Talking Points Memo

By MATT SHUHAM Published SEPTEMBER 18, 2017 10:30 AM

President Donald Trump opened his first remarks at the United Nations Monday by complimenting the Trump-branded property across the street.

“I actually saw great potential right across the street, to be honest with you, and it was only for the reason that the United Nations was here that that turned out to be such a successful project,” he said, immediately after thanking those in attendance at a meeting on UN reform.

Trump World Tower is across 1st Avenue from the UN, between East 47th and 48th streets in New York City.

The United States’ ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, introduced Trump by saying he had “a businessman’s eye for seeing potential, and he sees great potential not just in this reform movement, but in the United Nations itself.”

I walked past this building in July and learned a rather unsettling fact: The building has openable windows all the way to the top. (I refuse to waste film on anything Donald Trump owns, so have no pictures of it.) They're at the bottom of floor-to-ceiling window sets and they are hinged at the bottom...so not only does your apartment flood if you leave the windows open during a rainstorm, but if someone wanted to murder a TWT tenant for whatever reason all he'd have to do is lift the window off its hinges, shove the tenant out through it and put the window back in place.

Takes every opportunity to act like a corrupt, clueless, classless, dimwitted Ugly American buffoon.

What an international embarrassment.

Ian Masters mentioned recently on Background Briefing that in contrast to the behavior of the current dangerous and clueless occupant of the WH, when Hillary Clinton was interviewed by Rachel Maddow recently the two had an intelligent, informed discussion of international matters.

He was highlighting the staggering contrast. Anyone who had a hand in installing this maggot needs to hang their head in shame.

I remember years ago watching a TV show that took a tour of tRump Tower, with "The Donald" and Ivana. I was horrified, the place is hideous. Gold leaf everywhere, cheap looking, just like them. Nothing "homey" or warm about it, like a museum. It appears to still be the same, cold, cheap looking pace.

duties as ALL the power in South Carolina rests with the State delegates. The Governorship of South Carolina was one of ceremonial purposes only (like with GWB in Texas) and she had little power and less authority. She did however take down that Confederate statue on the State property after those people were murdered in the Church, and for that and her other actions in the days that follows she deserves credit for being a calming influence when one was needed. That doesn't make her presidential material though, but who knows, Trump has set the bar so low, that who knows what 2020 will bring out of the woodwork.

and in some cases severely limit the governorship's legal authority and standing. In fact, some states with bi-annual legislative sessions actually give some elected officials below the governor's level more authority than the governor himself/herself.

http://www.ncsl.org/research/about-state-legislatures/annual-versus-biennial-legislative-sessions.aspx

The devil's in the details! I had to learn a lot about these things, and much more, when I ran a division of a privately held firm that solely did 50-state security printing where contracting by bid was a prerequisite.

been watching some old t.v sitcoms lately (okay it's insomnia) and it is amazing to me how many of them mention "Trump" as being the definition of "rich" or "famous" or "celebrity", but mostly rich. This goes back decades. We and Hollywood have helped create this monster. We do not bow or curtsy to royalty in the old world sense, but we have done so in the American sense. Yes, we have worshiped turds.

I'm addicted to old CSI and L&O episodes that air here late at night, and it's amazing how many Trump references come up.

Tonight, on an old Criminal Intent episode, someone insisted that a murder that happened in a crappy loft was perpetrated by "real estate developers" who buy old buildings, use crime stats to lower the value of the property, then buy cheap, throw out the current occupants, and renovate the building into expensive condos.

Upon hearing this theory, the cop (Jeff Goldblum) says to his partner: "Maybe when we process the crime scene, we should be looking for Donald Trump's hair."

It was Trump's intention that his building would cast a shadow on the United Nations.

Walter Cronkite campaigned against its construction.
