As number of injured diplomats soared, State Dept. kept Cuba attacks secret

An internal Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs document obtained by CBS News shows the State Department was fully aware of the extent of the attacks on its diplomatsin Havana, Cuba, long before it was forced to acknowledge them.

State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert only admitted the attacks were occurring after CBS News Radio first reported them August 9.

"It's baffling," said Phil Peters, head of the Alexandria, Va.-based, Cuba Research Center.

It's clear that the attacks are threatening to upend the delicate détente between the U.S. and Cuba.

14. If by "they" you mean the Trump administration, hell yes they let it go too long.

This attack is unprecedented. It is still not clear what the diplomats were hit with, let alone whethet their hearing loss and brain injuries are permanent.

Compensation outside of worker's comp/disability seems unlikely considering the Trump administration's strange response to this attack. They have avoided namimg a responsible party, let alone demand compensation from that party.

Maybe it's a laser or a directed sonic beam of some kind.

If Putin is testing out a new weapon we need to know about this. Americans need to know how to defend ourselves.

Those sonic 'blasts' make whales beach themselves. probably cause the same neurological damage to sea life.

Oil exploration ships do hang around that area, they want to drill in the seas between florida and cuba.

An innocent explanation seems quite unlikely.

New details learned by The Associated Press indicate at least some of the incidents were confined to specific rooms or even parts of rooms with laser-like specificity, baffling U.S. officials who say the facts and the physics don’t add up.

“None of this has a reasonable explanation,” said Fulton Armstrong, a former CIA official who served in Havana long before America re-opened an embassy there. “It’s just mystery after mystery after mystery.”
