A key Republican senator, who is likely to decide the fate of her partys latest effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act and phase-out Medicaid, says she will rely on a Trump administration office with a history of producing cooked figures in order to determine whether to back the bill.
Earlier this week, the Congressional Budget Office announced that, due to the rushed process Senate Republicans are using to try to pass the latest version of Trumpcare, it will not be able to fully evaluate the bill until after a vote is expected next week. That leaves senators flying blind, without the offices guidance on crucial questions like how many people will lose coverage under the bill, or how the legislation will impact insurance premiums.
Outside estimates show that at least 32 million people will lose health insurance by 2027 if the latest Trumpcare bill becomes law.

Lets be clear here, she more than likely will be out of office collecting a taxpayer funded retirement program, this bill has not had a full CBO scored before they vote..................this is outrageous and is BS,to wait for that score, she can ask for "regular order", that is her job .

(67,782 posts)....in their press conference and appearances, point out that those states, among a few others, will benefit by this travesty.
I wonder why they've singled out those two states, could it be Collins and Murkowski perhaps?

(38,414 posts)Is it ...Sen. Lisa Murkowski ? The article alludes to her....but I don't know if she will go along with them
..We will see.

(51,584 posts)If it is Murkowski then she WANTS you to call her offices. She said so yesterday. She also wants people from out of state to call too. She wants Planned Parenthood in the Hellcare bill so mention that when you call! Her governor doesn't support it so that is good. The GOP is stealing billions from the blue states to buy votes in the red states and Alaska is being bribed with big bucks. I hope she stands by her convictions and doesn't turn traitor for money.
I have been calling so much I think all the GOP staffers know my voice (and sobbing) by now. I am exhausted and this is killing me mentally as well as physically and financially. I don't know how much more of this BS I can take and I know I am not alone, 32 million are facing the same living Hell everyday thanks to these greedy, evil bastards. Please call (202)224-3121 Thank you so much!

(54,341 posts)Murkowski showed some courage before. She could do it again. Or not. I have no clue what motivates her. Obviously, if she votes with McConnell, no cancer patient who will die 20 years early if she votes for McConnell is going to drive from Ketchikan down to DC to confront her. She won't suffer the consequences of her actions. Neither did Sandra Day O'Connor after December 12th, 2000. But regretting that one crucial vote ten or fifteen years down the line doesn't save the millions of people who will suffer due to it in the meantime. Is pleasing Mitch McTurtle THAT important to Lisa Murkowski? We'll find out soon enough, won't we?

(2,785 posts)she voted for repeal last time. If it's the senator from Maine or Alaska that's trouble.
Here is the thing if don't believe your going to have sufficient data then you should just vote no it's not hard.

(43,128 posts)There will be no escaping the consequences of their actions
They succeed in repeal - America is mad at them
They fail to repeal - their base is furious with them
They must explain higher fees, dying citizens, or their own legislative impotence
And I take no political pride in the effect on citizens ... have no health insurance myself

(19,193 posts)and apparently her conscience will then be clear. Of course she already knows they're lying to her, but this is her way of justifying her vote for the bill.
TOTAL BULLSHIT, of course, but that's what the GOP is so adept at. If it weren't for lying and bullshitting they wouldn't have anything to say at all.
