During an interview with Sean Hannity Wednesday night, President Donald Trump pointed the finger at Democrats for the state of affairs in the inner cities after Hannity asked how he would help minorities.
[Democrats] will say Oh, [Republican] policies are racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic,' Hannity said. Their policies havent helped the minority communities in America. Is there a way from the federal governments perspective that you can bring economic opportunity? And safety? Trump answered in the affirmative and proceeded to blame Democrats for those issues.
The Democrats have ruled the inner cities for 100 years, Trump said. This is their rule
The Democrats have truly ruled. Trump added:
Were doing a good job. [HUD Secretary] Ben Carson is doing a great job at HUD. Hes got great heart But the Democrats ruled the inner cities. And when I say, What you have to lose? Its so bad that, really, the Republicans should be starting to do very well. But were doing a good job and were stopping a lot of the crime.

UPDATE
Trump says minorities want and need more police protection than other Americans
By Philip Rucker and Damian Paletta October 11 at 10:20 PM
President Trump said Wednesday that minorities want and need more police protection than other Americans, and blamed Democrats for a crazy number of murders in Chicago and other large cities.
In an interview with Sean Hannity, the Fox News Channel anchor who also is a friend and informal adviser to the president, Trump said police in big cities are not allowed to respond to what he described as rampant crime because they have to be politically correct.
Minorities want police protection more than anybody, Trump said. They need it more than anybody. What's going on is crazy. And you look at some of these inner cities where it's just out of control.
Trump's comments came during a discussion of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players who have demonstrated during the playing of the national anthem in protest what they see as injustices against blacks in this country.
We have incredible police in this country, Trump said. They could stop [crime] if they were allowed to do their jobs... In many cases, it's the police are not allowed to do their job. They have to be politically correct.

(73,630 posts)There's no way possible that any thinking person would think that Trump's answer is serious.
He's the last person on the planet who should talking about race issues.

(31,382 posts)is quite telling. And he's telling us what he wants to do: rule. Not govern. Not cooperate with
others. Rule.
The guy is clearly a wannabe dictator. He's dangerous. He needs to be removed from office.
I was just thinking 'rule' is a strange word to use, perhaps he means tried to represent them. He seems to think he is the ruler.

(1,148 posts)I like how they are "ruled", as if not by their consent.
It's how RWers try to get around the unpleasant fact that an overwhelming majority of black people vote for Democrats. It's a huge embarrassment to them. And they usually respond to that by saying that Democrats are "exploiting" them, etc., as if no one ELECTED them.
That's all I'm going to say because I'm not legitimating racist opinions anymore by giving them too much time. Democrats didn't force blacks and latinos to vote for them. They don't vote GOP because the GOP is racist, and until Republicans admit this, I'm not giving them much of my time.

But I know here in Philly, we didn't have a Democratic mayor until the 1950s.
The GOP went loon in the '60s with Goldwater, and "southern strategy" with Nixon, and hasn't looked back.
