MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The body of Sgt. La David Johnson, the soldier from Miami Gardens who was working with an elite U.S. Army Special Forces unit when he died in northwestern Africa, returned to South Florida about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.

President Donald Trump spoke to his wife, Myeshia Johnson for about 5 minutes. Rep. Frederica Wilson said Trump told the distraught widow Johnson "knew what he was signing up for...but when it happens it hurts anyway."


"Yes, he said it," Wilson said. "It's so insensitive. He should have not have said that. He shouldn't have said it."

Johnson's family -- including his 2-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter -- were at the Miami International Airport waiting for the Delta Airlines flight that was bringing the casket with his remains. The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department welcomed him with a water salute.

11. To clarify my statement--I exchanged my duplicate story for a related story. In other

words, because I had a duplicate story, which I discovered after I posted it, I removed the duplicate story and inserted another story in its place.

I did not want to self delete and I thought the story of the returning to Miami of the dead soldiers remains deserved an OP of its own.

It takes me a long to post in LBN--lots of cutting and pasting with my old, slow computer. And sometimes by the time I am done, someone has posted the same story (like happened a bit ago).
