President Donald Trump tweeted an erroneous claim that was nearly identical to an on-screen graphic that has repeatedly aired on the racist, conspiracy-mongering One America News Network (OANN) that falsely linked crime in the United Kingdom to radical Islamic terror.
In a segment airing at 6:25 a.m., OANN ran a chyron which read, Report: U.K. Crime Rises 13% Annually Amid Spread Of Radical Islamic Terror.

As Media Matters notes, Trump has promoted OANN in the past, and Sean Spicer frequently called on its WH correspondent. OANN employed Corey Lewandowski for a while. And the network is known for racist commentary and conspiracy theories, including the Seth Rich and Pizzagate conspiracy theories.

(629 posts)The biggest thing I heard was some guy one there saying something about the Clinton foundation must be investigated because Bill and Hillary got $100m from Russia and they personally took the money, the laws broken under Obama must have a full investigation and Obama must stand trial for illegal acts, and finally some BS. OK, I lied about the BS. Anyway, I was absolutely shocked any organization would be feeding this shit out over the airways and have absolutely no evidence why. I dunno, maybe I am an idiot but for a "network" to put this out for the public seems to me to be undermining everything our government is supposed to be and advocating the overthrow of it. They want to silence anything they do not want themselves.
