A majority of American voters in a new poll says gun control is one of many important factors when they cast their ballots.
Sixty-one percent told Gallup pollsters that they consider gun control to be an important factor, up from 54 percent in 2015. Twelve percent in the new survey said gun control is not a major issue in the voting booth.
Twenty-four percent in this months survey said they would only cast ballots for a candidate who holds their same views on gun control. Twenty-six percent said this in 2015.
The poll was conducted after the deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas earlier this month in which 58 people were killed and hundreds of others injured.

(25,224 posts)The phrase, "Gun Control" is too, too, vague....
Does it mean gun safety?
Does it mean less gun laws?
Does it mean open carry?
Does it concealed carry resipricity?
Does it mean the gun show loophole?
Does it mean to bump-stocks?
It is just too vague.....
62% of Republicans want a candidate who shares their views on gun control
62% of Independents " "
60% of Democrats " "
The survey does not define "Gun Control"

Thinking about how the gun issue might affect your vote for major offices, would you -- only vote for a candidate who shares your views on gun control, would you consider a candidate's position on gun control as just one of many important factors when voting or would you not consider gun control a major issue?
Only vote for candidate who shares views
One of many important factors
Not a major issue
