Papadopoulos Claimed Trump Campaign Approved Russia Meeting

Source: Bloomberg News

October 31, 2017, 3:34 PM PDT
Former Trump adviser George Papadopoulos made a significant claim in an email: Top Trump campaign officials agreed to a pre-election meeting with representatives of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Bloomberg News reports.

The message, if true, would bolster claims that Trumpís campaign attempted to collude with Russian interests. But itís unclear whether Papadopoulos, who pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was merely boasting when he sent the July 14, 2016, email to a Kremlin-linked contact. Thereís also no indication such a meeting ever occurred.

1. George Papadopoulos - like the former Greek dictator.

Except while the other one was dictator, this one's just a dick.

3. Trump & Republicons must have already had own back-channels open

I read in a report that Manafort is said to have replied to somebody by email that Papadopoulos should be blocked or discouraged (forget exact wording, didn't bookmark for that remark, and can't find by searching web -- anyone got link?).

My thought is that by that time the Republicon campaign (Trump's) must have had its own back channels well established. Manafort may very well have been pressed on Trump by blackmail or debt-blackmail.

4. "...would bolster claims" ???

Uh... just a little bit, ya.

Try, if proven to be true, would constitute irrefutable proof of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government officials.

6. "no indication such a meeting ever occurred"?

Wouldn't just "such a meeting" be exactly what Carter Page did?!

9. Yes and it defies the laws of probability that

All these attempts to meet AND the all the proven meetings ALL happened in a vacuum with no one in charge condoning or orchestrating.
