Louis C.K.'s Movie Premiere Canceled in Advance of N.Y. Times Story

Source: The Hollywood Reporter

The New York premiere of Louis C.K.'s upcoming film, I Love You, Daddy, set for Thursday, has been canceled. Reps for the premiere, due to take place at the Paris Theatre, cited "unexpected circumstances."

A source tells The Hollywood Reporter that a New York Times story on the comedian is about to break, and the premiere was canceled in case it is damaging. Additionally, Louis C.K.'s planned appearance on CBS' The Late Show With Stephen Colbert was also canceled, with William H. Macy taking his place.

Louis C.K. wrote, directed and stars in I Love You, Daddy. The comedy-drama tells the story of a successful TV writer-producer who attempts to stop his 17-year-old daughter's (Chloe Grace Moretz) growing admiration and relationship with a 68-year-old filmmaker (John Malkovich). The film also stars Pamela Adlon, Rose Byrne, Charlie Day, Edie Falco and Helen Hunt.

C.K. shot the film entirely in secret last June. He also financed the project and edited it as well. Dave Becky of 3 Arts produced the film alongside C.K., Vernon Chatman, Ryan Cunningham and John Skidmore. Tony Hernandez executive produced.

4. Honestly, this is getting blown out of proportion

Louis probably didn't masturbate in front of more than ten or twelve women against their will, tops. Maybe nineteen, but not likely more than twenty or twenty-five.

7. I am glad that the many years of sexual assault

is coming to light, but it makes me uncomfortable that people are automatically considered guilty when they are publicly accused. I am quite sure that most of the allegations we've heard are probably true, but I have known a small handful of people who would lie about such things, often just for attention or payback.

We don't even known what is going on in this case and people have already convicted the man.

11. You make an excellent point, but I am inclined to err on the side of the women making the claim

We've seen, of course, how women are crucified when they come forward with claims of assault, so I have trouble believing that most women would make up a story in order to voluntarily throw themselves into that media-driven nightmare.

I would love for the claims to be proven false, but for now I'm willing to hear what the victims have to say.

25. I know what you mean

Being a woman and having been on the receiving end of vile behavior, I want to believe the women. For the most part I do, I just don't want to convict every person who has been accused in the court of public opinion.

Of course, in the case of Louis C.K., quite a few woman have come out now and the story is very ugly. I'm afraid to think who might be next. What is wrong with these guys?

10. I find the frenzy....

"Oh, he touched me 10 years ago". Should NEVER be tried in the media.....If something happened....then file a police report... make it but official and use the system appropriately...

I see this kind of media lynching unsettling.. .A monster can grow out of this style of addressing criminal and or eithical/ personal boundaries.

Predatory behaviour commited by adults should have consequences even if the statue of limitations has passed.

26. The statute of limitations applies..

Beyond that, some victims DID report the assaults to police at the time they happened.

A victim of Cosby tried to file a report with police -- She was laughed at.

One of Weinstein's victims actually TAPED the old lecher admitting to grabbing her breasts, but the cops felt there was somehow not enough "evidence" or something.

14. I've heard people express suspicion because

so many women are starting to share their stories. Some stories are decades old. It makes perfect sense to me.

It wasn't safe to tell your story before. Women knew that. We knew that our stories were presumed to be exaggerated or fabricated.

This presumption was made worse by an occasional story that WAS fabricated -- the media seemed to love those stories. It furthered the narrative that women are fabricating their stories. This silenced women even more.

I am happy to see women come out and speak, even if it takes down some beloved men. If they hurt these women, they deserve to be outed.

Obviously, I don't think men should be tried in the media. They must be presumed innocent and given a fair hearing.

30. The thing is many women told these stories in the past and were simply dismissed/ignored.

This is why in several of the cases "everybody knew".

16. That is deeply disappointing.

I really liked Louis CK, and I'm sorry to hear he's been a creep.

My thoughts go out to his victims. It's a terribly sad (and far too often repeated) story.
