Former FBI Director James Comey tweeted a quote from former President Dwight Eisenhower on Friday about the importance of integrity in leadership amid news reports about sexual harassment by prominent members of both political parties.

he tweet comes as Congress reels from sexual assault accusations facing both Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and GOP Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore. Franken apologized Thursday for his actions, while Moore has vocally denied any wrongdoing and vowed to stay in the race ahead of the December special election.
The former FBI director has avoided tweeting directly about political news and events since he was fired by President Trump in May. Some of his tweeted quotes, however, have been taken by many to be indirect shots at political figures or referencing current events.
In late October, Comey tweeted about "man's inclination towards injustice" after former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was indicted on fraud and money laundering charges.

(5,914 posts)I really think he must be going through some sort of personal existential crisis, to which we are all forced to bear witness as he works through the struggles.
I really hope you figure it out, James.

We need Americans of all stripes to stand with us during the crisis we face. For me, that means overlooking some instances where people might have infuriated me. I will work with them until (and unless) there is a betrayal. If there is a betrayal, they will get no quarter from me.
