Schiff: Evidence of coordination between Trump campaign and Russia 'pretty damning'

Source: The Hill

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 12/10/17 02:00 PM EST

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said Sunday the evidence of coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia is "pretty damning."

"The Russians offered help. The campaign accepted help. The Russians gave help. And the president made full use of that help," Schiff said during an interview on CNN's "State of the Union."

"And that's pretty damning, whether it is proof beyond a reasonable doubt of conspiracy or not," he continued. Schiff, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee which is conducting a probe into possible Russian election hacking, said people need to look at the "pattern of chronology."

"You have, in late April, the Russians approaching the Trump campaign and saying, we have stolen Hillary Clinton e-mails," he said.

12. What intrigues me are these latest "leaks"

The last two or three have been either inaccurate or misreported and have made the press look like fools. If hard evidence the House committee is seeing isn't being leaked, what is up with these fake leaks? Isn't almost like they are intentionally inaccurate to embarrass the press.

I want to know what the specific evidence is.

The fact that Trump refused to say publicly it was the Russians, even though he knew it was the Russians, because the Russians told him: "Hey, it was us. You want the stuff?" is evidence of an attempt to hide the fact from the public. It was a flat out lie.

11. If it is a massive conspiracy (and there are a lot of reasons to think that), Mueller has his hands

full. He will want to get as many people involved in this scandal rounded up and indicted where possible. Complicated cases take time. I would love to get an early Christmas present and see tRump frog marched out of the White House while a moving van is backed up to the door removing every trace that he had ever been there. But if it doesn’t I will have to swallow hard and hope that tRump and his minions don’t take us all down before he meets his fate with a prosecutor. I won’t like it but what else can we do?

13. Mueller's investigation is separate from the House Committee that Schiff is reporting on

We don't actually know if Rep. Schiff is seeing the same info that Mueller has - he probably isn't. So they're not sharing investigation information, they're actually working on parallel tracks.

If an impeachment happens it will be Schiff's committee that will get the ball rolling. Mueller won't be involved in impeachment proceedings, but he will be involved (presumably) if and when charges are filed against Trump & others concerning illegal campaign activities and anything during the period before his inauguration.

Sometimes it's confusing because we hear different things, and we have to consider the source. Adam Schiff isn't the committee chairman by the way, but he is a reliable Democratic leader who goes out of his way to give us good information whenever he can.
