Scoop: Mueller obtains "tens of thousands of Trump transition emails

Source: Axios

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has obtained “many tens of thousands" of Trump transition emails, including emails of Jared Kushner, transition team sources tell Axios.

Trump officials discovered Mueller had the emails when his prosecutors used them as the basis for questions to witnesses, the sources said.
-The emails include 12 accounts, one of which contains about 7,000 emails, the sources said.
-The accounts include the team's political leadership and the foreign-policy team, the sources said.

Why it matters: The transition emails are said to include sensitive exchanges on matters that include potential appointments, gossip about the views of particular senators involved in the confirmation process, speculation about vulnerabilities of Trump nominees, strategizing about press statements, and policy planning on everything from war to taxes.

Scoop: Mueller obtains "tens of thousands” of Trump transition emails

Why it matters:

“Mueller is using the emails to confirm things, and get new leads," a transition source told me.

How it happened
: The sources say Mueller obtained the emails from the General Services Administration, the government agency that hosted the transition email system, which had addresses ending in “ptt.gov," for Presidential Transition Team.

Axios has asked the Special Counsel's Office for comment and will update this story with the response.

The transition sources said they were surprised about the emails because they have been in touch with Mueller's team and have cooperated.

“They ask us to waive NDAs [nondisclosure agreements] and things like that," a second source said. “We have never said 'no' to anything."

The twist: The sources say that transition officials assumed that Mueller would come calling, and had sifted through the emails and separated the ones they considered privileged. But the sources said that was for naught, since Mueller has the complete cache from the dozen accounts.

Kory Langhofer, counsel to Trump for America (TFA), wrote a letter to several congressional committees claiming that Mueller's team improperly obtained thousands of emails from the General Services Administration (GSA), where the Trump transition team housed its staffers during the transition.

Hahaha Hahaha😂 Trump and his cohorts thought they would withhold information and "cherry pick" what they turned over to Mueller. Surprise, since the 1st question they likely got asked was if they had turned over everything that was covered by the request. The first lie is "yes"🙈

6. Is every email deleted by trump's team a possible obstruction charge?

If so -- can you imagine -- potentially hundreds if not thousands of charges? Mueller's team will now know what emails were deleted before Trump's team "cooperated" and handed over the emails.

10. No because something can be deleted for other reasons

They probably had several drafts and only keep the final one that got sent. So the earlier versions would all be deleted, and that can't be called Obstruction. If it could then we'd all be guilty of something, right?

Mueller has enough serious shit to convict these guys already and he's got Flynn to testify whenever they start with the but-but-but's. This is going to be a rock-solid case, I'm sure.

*.gov accounts are property of the American People, and anyone can FOIA those accounts. Law enforcement gets free access to them as needed.

12. Word is he got them months ago, even before asking Trump's team to supply him with the emails.

If they hid damaging emails or lied about what's in them Mueller can charge them with a felony.
All during the interrogation he would have known the correct answers to questions he asked.

Mueller is rumored to have a large stack of sealed indictments on just about everyone involved with Trump which will be opened if he is fired. Seems to me this might even involve some currently in Congress.

Sounds like a lot of people have a reason to prevent Trump from firing Mueller.
Whether they can constrain him is another matter.
