Holder slams Trump's comments on Justice Department

Source: The Hill

BY JULIA MANCHESTER - 12/29/17 02:19 PM EST

Former Attorney General Eric Holder ripped President Trump for saying that he has the "absolute right" to do what he wants with the Department of Justice, calling the comments "wrong" and "dangerous."

The comments from President Obama's former attorney general come after Trump told The New York Times on Thursday that he could do what he wanted with the department after he was asked if he would reopen the probe into former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's email server during her tenure as secretary of State.

"I have absolute right to do what I want to do with the Justice Department. But for purposes of hopefully thinking I’m going to be treated fairly, I’ve stayed uninvolved with this particular matter," the president told the publication.

Trump told the newspaper it was "too bad" that his own attorney general, Jeff Sessions, recused himself from the Russia investigation, and said he had great respect for Holder protecting Obama while he was attorney general.

fired they can sue Trump and the Federal Government. The alternative is that you can go to JAIL for participating in or carrying out an unlawful order. I know that as a former federal employee and I am not a lawyer, nor did I work for the Justice Dept. Every federal employee knows that as well because they are taught that when they are hired and through subsequent annual and biannual training they are required to take. Ignorance of the law will not be a valid excuse.

It DOESN’T work that way in the public sector - OR in America at large.

This job you think you “won” redefines you as a PUBLIC SERVANT. That’s what all elected officials are: public SERVANTS.

when he said he "respected" Holder's "loyalty" to Obama. He thinks everyone is as dependent on flattery as he is.

The reason Eric Holder keeps needing to tweet is due to enabling traitor Sessions complicity in the attempt to "purge" the FBI.

Under Sessions, the FBI is without DOJ leasership and vulnerable.

Again, the GOP leadership is complicit in its silence.

What a disgusting perversion of justice and rule of law.

Putin is right. The US, and specifically the GOP, is corruptible, just like Russia, with no particular loyalty to the constitution.
