Judge allows House panel to subpoena Fusion GPS's financial records

A federal judge ruled Thursday that the Washington-based firm Fusion GPS cannot block the House Intelligence Committee from subpoenaing the firm's financial records, according to court documents.
Court records obtained by BuzzFeed News show that U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon denied Fusion GPS's request for an injunction on the grounds that such a disclosure to Congress would violate the firm's First Amendment rights.
"Because I find all of Fusion's objections to the subpoena to be unavailing" the motion was denied, wrote Leon, an appointee of former President George W. Bush.

(33,643 posts)It's like "Yeah, we're guilty as hell, but we have the power to force the investigators of our crimes ... to be investigated themselves ... so that's just what we're gonna do!"
What POS's these men are. Banana Republicans, thru and thru.
Anyone think for ONE SECOND that the PUKES on the Committee aren't going to leak info like mad?
Pfffft.
Everyone in the USA is likely to see instance after instance of 'Look, A Payment From Hillary Clinton!!!' ... as though it's some breaking fucking news.
Nevermind that NOBODY has ever denied that Dems didn't pick up payment for the Oppo Research, the Pukes will try to make it sound like there's been a vast conspiracy to 'hide Hillary's involvement in the dossier' ... and the Corporate Media will give it play, not because it's IMPORTANT, but because it'll draw clicks, from both sides.
This country is exposing itself ... in so many ways, it's becoming more obvious to the world each day that we are simply no longer deserving of a World Leadership Role. Progressives had the right ideas ... about damn near everything, pretty much ... and that is why we were respected. Our Progressive ideals.
But Trump is tearing it all down pushing his Fascist, idiotic bullshit as fast as he can, just to feed his frail ego and desperate need to be 'loved'. It's f***ing DISTRESSING to witness, as an intelligent, caring US Citizen.
My prediction is that the Global Dominance of the US Petro-Dollar is going to come to an end during Trumps term (unless that ends SOON). Because nobody is watching the Hen House. Trump himself has NO GRASP how it important it is that the Dollar remain the de-facto 'World Currency', and that this can be 'taken away' if the world unites against us, and he's not even going to listen to advisers telling him he's making any sort of 'mistake'.
And I promise you that forces all over the globe are slavering at the opportunity now placed before them. I'd bet any amount that there are well-advanced plans afoot in the world ... to make moves to undermine the dollar's place in the global economy.
And if they're successful? All bets are off.
We become 'just another country', basically. One with UNBELIEVABLY high disparities in wealth, tremendous debt ... and armed to the teeth. And everyone hating 'the other'.
It won't end well. COMPETENCY AT THE TOP ... as well as the Country (at least on the World Stage) promulgating FAIR, PROGRESSIVE VALUES ... are both CRITICAL to our Nation's survival and prosperity. We cannot maintain dominance like we have if the rest of the World concludes ... we're stupid, and we suck, as a Country. But Trump is a bannerman for STUPID SUCKAGE.
Someone like Trump being in charge ... is an INVITATION TO THE WORLD to say "You know what? It's been a good run, but ... your 'time' ... is done".

(16,372 posts)Remember the gas crisis? How about the Carter years when we had what was called stagflation? Yup. And why were the Carter years in the doldrums? All about the move to petrodollars. At least he got us out of it but that was a huge reason for Reagan's election. That and the Iran hostage crisis ... of course Iran was a big supplier of oil to the US under the shah.
Makes you think, huh?
