Ryan backed Nunes in spat with Justice Dept. over Russia documents, sources say

Source: CNN

House Speaker Paul Ryan backed his fellow congressional Republican, House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, during a meeting over the Russia investigation Wednesday, capping off a months-long dispute between the committee and the Justice Department, multiple sources with the knowledge of the situation told CNN.

CNN reported Wednesday that Ryan met with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI head Christopher Wray in his Capitol Hill office, but details emerged Thursday providing new insight into how a nasty inter-branch dispute has quietly subsided -- at least for now.

While Ryan had already been in contact with Rosenstein for months about the dispute over documents, Rosenstein and Wray wanted to make one last effort to persuade him to support their position. The documents in dispute were mostly FBI investigative documents that are considered law enforcement sensitive and are rarely released or shared outside the bureau.

During the meeting, however, it became clear that Ryan wasn't moved and the officials wouldn't have his support if they proceeded to resist Nunes' remaining highly classified requests, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the meeting.

Have you ever tried to read a redacted document? Not much left when all the "sensitive" info is blacked out.

it really doesn't matter what they do or think, the Mueller train has left the station and it will not be derailed.

wants to know just how much information is known about THEIR involvement with Russia. Plenty, is my thought. Ryan is talking about retiring from politics before the next election. He is rumored to be thinking about a presidential run in the future (fat chance) Once it is revealed just how deep into this Russia fiasco he is, he will be lucky to avoid jail time. McConnell just sits back and lets others do the finding. Traitors, the entire gop.

He likes to play the role of respectable establishment figure, but this exposes that he is in on the cover up with Nunes. Nunes is just doing the public work, but Ryan is totally in on it as this story demonstrates.

and all will be forgotten? Investigations and evidence does disappear if in the GOP hands, but the FBI info is secure and backed up whether or not Mueller or Ryan are still here in a year.
