Donald Trump book 'will end his presidency', says author of explosive Fire and Fury expose'

Source: The Independent

Michael Wolff says book has exposed a 'very clear emperor-has-no-clothes effect' that will lead to US President's downfall

Lucy Pasha-Robinson @lucypasha an hour ago

A tell-all book on Donald Trump's first year in the White House will be the final nail in the coffin for his presidency, according to its author. Michael Wolff said his revelations about the US President were filtering into the public consciousness and would result in his term coming to an end.

Allegations that the former real estate mogul acts like a "child" and has "less credibility than perhaps anybody who has ever walked on Earth at this point" have already made global headlines since excerpts emerged this week.

“I think one of the interesting effects of the book so far is a very clear emperor-has-no-clothes effect,” Mr Wolff told BBC Radio 4. “The story that I have told seems to present this presidency in such a way that it says he can’t do his job."

He added: “Suddenly everywhere people are going ‘oh my God, it’s true, he has no clothes’. That’s the background to the perception and the understanding that will finally end ... this presidency.”

I'd think Robert Mueller's investigation might play a small part in the self-destruction of tRump and his minions.

Of course, his book just got a huge boost from Trump's ridiculous comments. Good for the book's sales, I guess.

There is a point to Wolff's self-serving observation and that is that the general public is finally becoming aware that Trump is an empty vessel. Once that fundamental understanding about Trump becomes common knowledge, the Mueller investigation cannot be dismissed by the right wing noise machine. Too many people will believe the results of the investigation.

Over the years, I've found Wolff's writing to be uneven and often poorly sourced. I don't think I'll buy the book unless it ends up in the discount bin. However, if it helps bring an end to Trump-- in any way-- I'm all for it.

It's the first thorough description of what's gone on behind the doors of the West Wing.
And it's an exceedingly ugly picture.
Your worst suppositions about this ignoramus turn out to be true.
The Republican congress has been intractable and are shown to be the traitorous scum you imagined.
Now voters, a better informed citizenry, can say, 'nope, this is too much. Get these rug rats out!'

But that he and his publisher rushed it out indicates to me that they were really more concerned about the money.

At any rate the media and the gop/trump will have him and his book ground to dust long before mid-terms and it will be at best a "fart in a hurricane" by 2020.

This book is a barely noticeable distraction for the vulgar and sadistic Oligarchs who want to own all the wealth and to enslave us all. To them, Trump is merely a firmly ensconced, useful idiot.

Always remember; unless you're very well off, any adversity can easily destroy your security and well being. The Oligarchs truly don't care about you after you have served them. They want you gone!

The only thing that's really changed, is Trump's condition is much worse than we thought. Trump's base doesn't believe a word of it & GOP leadership will double down in support of him–they are on a tax cut high. As for the voters, the book will be ancient history by November.

We Dems already knew most of the scandals, the mushy middle is increasingly convinced, but the GOP base ? Nope. Trump would have to run around Washington DC stark naked howling at the moon in front of Fox News cameras, and even THEN....some of his base would say "oh poor Donald is having a bad day". Sigh.

Maybe if the Republicans get decimated in the mid-terms 1932-style...then they might consider getting rid of him.

He should take a Joe Friday "just the facts" attitude when interviewed about the book. It is an important book, but he was only able to get access and write it because of the sheer incompetence of the Trump administration, and Wolff's connection with Roger Ailes. Wolff just got lucky.

With regard to ending Trump's presidency, no, this will not be the tipping point. Everyone who was paying attention already knew this shit, he just added details. People who support Trump will continue to support Trump.

What the book will do is greatly diminish Steve Bannon's power, because it prompted Bannon's financial backers, the Mercers, to abandon him. The Mercer's have made it clear they still support Trump.

The only thing that will end Trump's presidency is voters VOTING for a Democratic majority in 2018 and/or a Democratic President in 2020.

This has its moments, but it's not all positive for the country.

Every new scandal was supposed to end his presidency but none of them even dented his popularity.
Yes in any rational world this would do it, but so would many, many other things in the past.
As long as the Republicans support him he will remain in power.

Now that the Republicans have irretrievably linked their futures with Trump's, if he goes down, they will go down with him.
They've decided it's worth the risk of ending their lives in prison in order to protect Trump from true justice.

Their one hope is to gain total corrupt control of the judicial system and destroy American democracy before November.

It's going to be a long, unpleasant ride to hell.
It could be hell for us or hell for them, but it will be hell for somebody.
