Google Memo Author James Damore Sues Company For Discrimination Against White Males
Source: BuzzFeed News
The author of a controversial memo that sparked debates about gender and diversity at Google sued his former employer on Monday, alleging that the company discriminates against politically conservative white men.
James Damore, who was fired in August for internally circulating a manifesto that argued Googles gender pay gap was the result of genetic inferiority, said in a lawsuit filed in Santa Clara Superior Court that the search giant singled out, mistreated, and systematically punished and terminated employees that deviated from the companys view on diversity. Damore and a second plaintiff, David Gudeman, another former Google engineer, are seeking class-action status for anyone that identifies as conservative, Caucasian, or male.
The men are being represented by Harmeet K. Dhillon, the Republican National Committees committeewoman for California.
Googles management goes to extreme and illegal lengths to encourage hiring managers to take protected categories such as race and/or gender into consideration as determinative hiring factors, to the detriment of Caucasian and male employees and potential employees at Google, the suit reads.

(748 posts)Just take every reference to women, and every stereotype about women, and replace them with "African-American" or "Jew" or any other group and the accompanying stereotypes.
Take a look at the resulting document and you'd realize what a jackass this guy is.

I wonder why.

(62,265 posts)Apparently this guy and a few others put their conservative ideology out and they got fired after offending a lot of people. I expect a settlement with how many employees went after them. But it was all planned in advance to take advantage of Google's internal discussion list. Very strange that they have that being such a big company. Letting employees talk politics while working seems highly counterproductive. Employees openly admitting that they have blacklists of other employees. That kind of thing is mind boggling to me.
