Donald Trump Stayed On The Golf Course As Hawaii Panicked

Source: Huff post

S 01/13/2018 10:31 pm ET

He didn’t even tweet about the false missile alarm as soon as he put away his golf clubs.

Critics are blasting President Donald Trump for continuing to golf Saturday while frantic Hawaii residents rushed for cover after a false cell phone alarm about an incoming ballistic missile.

The president was on the course at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, after the alert was issued at 1:09 p.m. EST, according to press pool reports. His motorcade didn’t leave the club for Mar-a-Lago until 1:38 p.m.

Although Hawaii’s Emergency Management Agency quickly tweeted that the initial warning was an error, it took 38 minutes before a second mobile alert declared the first a false alarm. Officials said the wrong button had been pushed.

As of Saturday evening, Trump had not issued any personal statement — or tweet — about the scare. He did tweet about “fake news” and again called journalist Michael Wolff’s book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, a “fake book.” He described Wolff as “mentally deranged.”

We really do have a shithole President. He could have--should have immediately reassured Hawaii that it was a false alarm and offer to assist in helping to make sure it does not happen again.

There are so many ways trump could have, and probably would have made the situation worse. I don't think he could have improved things. It's best that he just no involvement at all. Let actual competent people work the problem.

we don't bother him, he doesn't bother us. It's honestly the best possible scenario of a Trump presidency. He golfs, pardons a thanksgiving turkey, kills 3 of the turkeys that Obama pardoned ("bringing law and order back to America&quot .
Pence may be a religious ideologue, but at least he's simi-mentally stable. And maybe he'll only lie 70% of the time. That'd be a vast improvement.

That tweet doesn't even say when anyone informed Trump about the false alert - it may have been after Hawaii and Gabbard had already told people it was wrong.

I don't think Trump inserting himself into this would have helped. It might have made things worse. They don't need him to fix this.

Of course belief in imminent death was vastly heightened by our president's very dangerous fire-and-fury threats, but who thinks he's capable of realizing that? Or of feeling shame instead of pleasurable power if someone explained it?

Anyway, Hawaii's government owns this one. Just wish it had one of those betraying Republican governors to throw rocks at.

Hawaii Judges are vexing Trump.
Jeff Sessions can't even say the State's name, calls the entire State of Hawaii "an island in the middle of the ocean"
The White House said that Trump was aware of a "drill".

This is Trump's "Bridgegate"! He knew exactly "what the drill was". In true Trumpian form, the purpose of "the drill" was to terrorize the State of Hawaii and her residents while attacking their tourism revenue stream.

I mean, who would even believe that the great US of A doesn't have state of the art anti-ballistic missile defense systems in place!
Bah!

Show the alert, show people panicking, show drumpf calmly playing golf and ignoring the could-be major threat, then the voice over about drumpf getting the warning call and ignoring it. Ask, what if this had been real, would Hawaii have been destroyed before he'd bother to take a break and see what was really going on? Ask, is this who will protect the nation if the threat, raised dramatically by his personal name calling, becomes real or will he just keep golfing? Burntastic!

If there had been a real launch, it would have been detected early by our military and the event would have been relayed to tRump very quickly, as well as to numerous other authorities such as the early warning system, counter-measure attack systems, etc. In addition, I believe all high-level government officials would immediately be rushed off to secure facilities.

Since missiles would be detected early in the flight, I'm speculating that in such an event, early warnings would be sent out to multiple areas and as the trajectory is better determined, the alerts would be refined down to more exact locations.

This is probably why tRump most likely was not even told about this false alarm until later.
