Lewis: I won't vote for government funding without a DACA deal

Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) said Sunday that he will not vote to fund the government unless lawmakers reach a deal protecting immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children.
Well, I for one, will not vote for government funding until we get a deal on DACA, Lewis told ABCs This Week, referring to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
President Trump last year rescinded the Obama-era program, which protects young immigrants from deportation, but provided Congress with a window to craft a legislative fix.
The White House and lawmakers, however, have yet to reach a deal on DACA, and Trump has said his long-promised border wall must be part of any DACA approval.

(11,910 posts)Nancy Pelosi needs to have a daily press conference explaining that until the Republicans pass a DACA deal enshrined in law, including amnesty and a path to full citizenship, that the government will remain shut down, period.
