Joe Manchin Bashes Pelosi's 'Make America White Again' Remark: 'Don't Need That Type of Rhetoric'

Source: Mediate

by Justin Baragona | 9:46 am, January 28th, 2018

Last week, in response to President Donald Trump’s latest immigration proposal, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said the president was looking to “make America white again.” This morning, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) criticized the Democratic leader’s remarks while suggesting that Democrats should try to negotiate with Trump on the issue.

Appearing on CNN’s State of the Union, Manchin was asked by host Jake Tapper to respond to Pelosi’s comments. “You know what, we don’t need that type of rhetoric on either side — from Nancy, Paul Ryan or anybody else,” the West Virginia lawmaker stated. “And I come down this — the president has laid out a template. We’re going to look at that template. We’re going to look at that template and we’re going to work with it.”

After saying that there should be no more talk about a shutdown and that Trump has provided a “good starting point,” Manchin was questioned about his criticism of Pelosi.

“I’m condemning all this crazy rhetoric that goes on,” the senator responded. “Just because someone is Republican is not my enemy and we have to work together.”

...until we stopped supporting coal-mining unions (and unions in general). The collapse of the unions, aided by our "benign neglect," left members with no reason to vote Democratic...and left a vacuum into which Republicans gleefully stepped with the false narrative that "the liberals are coming to take your guns and Bibles!"

And before you respond with ‘he is really a republican’ or the DINO bullshit keep this in mind...he votes with his party over 75% of the time. A republican in that seat would vite against us every single time.

WV is not electing a liberal democrat.

He is fighting for his political life...but yes in fact our revolution saw fit to primary him with a candidate who could never win a general in a million years so if he loses the primary, we will get a Republican and then no shot at the Senate. I pray everyday that Manchin keeps his seat. We need to hold all Democratic seats. And that is a seat we are unlikely to ever get back.

Doubt it. I just think that the scared bunnies running television news want to make sure they provide "balance," so they always trot out the most-prominent conservative Democrat to counter any liberal Democrat. Just like, after giving a platform to conservative Republicans, they always make sure to provide equal time to a liberal Rep...oops, I guess there aren't any, so carry on!

His pathological need to bash his fellow Dems. He never seems to go after Dotard with even a quarter the fury he unleashes on members of his own party.

He gets away with it because so-called "pragmatic" Dems on here will give him a mulligan, as Tony Perkins calls it, because he's from West Virginia yet they'll launch full on 2003 Shock and Awe on any other Dem who dares utter even the mildest of criticism of any party leader.

Let's see...yep, 93%. And look what it got them. I am not sure that Trump's plan to replace Latino immigrants with Scandinavian immigrants will improve the economy. However, it will increase the rate of malignant melanoma in the population which will help dermatologists, so one sector of the economy will benefit.

Manchin used to bug the hell out of me. But he's also come through on some big votes, including Obamacare repeal, the tax scam, and the DeVos nomination.

If he needs to say ridiculous things once in a while to appeal to his people in his state, then he should do what he needs to do. But at the end of the day, he's 100X better than any Republican would be in that seat.

When people speak about matters of race black people came here along with white people. even though they were brought here and sold into slavery, they are the ones who built the country, including the White House, the wealth of the large farmers etc. They were immigrants at the time, just as whites were.
No one ever comments on a family who came here when the country of origin Bavaria had expelled them as undesirable. The family head
was a known criminal, who made money from prostitution, & the protection racket, his son was also in crime, protection racket, KKK and discriminating against black people renting his properties.
Makes you wonder, the grandson i.e Trump who is as much into crime it sees became President. In my opinion, he is a criminal and a con man just like his dad and grandad!

To make a long story short, in my opinion, Black people have a greater claim to this country than he does!

Manchin has voted with us a 100% since Trump was elected...75% before that give or take...way better than the 100% Trump voting Republican who would replace him. We would not have Obamacare without the conservadems...it would have gone down right away after Trump's elections...so maybe you might think about that and what he has to do in order to win re-election.
