White House on Clinton's Grammy cameo: Don't take it seriously

Source: Politico

By LOUIS NELSON 01/29/2018 08:28 AM EST

White House spokesman Raj Shah on Monday panned Hillary Clinton’s cameo appearance during Sunday night’s Grammy awards, telling Fox News that award show criticism directed at President Donald Trump ought to be dismissed as the complaints of out-of-touch liberals.

“When I see Hillary Clinton and other liberal politicians join forces with celebrities or try to show America how in touch they are, I don't take it all that seriously,” Shah, a deputy White House press secretary, told “Fox & Friends.” “You know, the left and the elite centers of America are frankly out of touch with what's going on in this country and all the great work that this president is doing. And I wouldn't take a whole lot of what you see on a Sunday night Grammy appearance by celebrities attacking president all that seriously.”

Clinton, Trump’s vanquished 2016 election opponent who nonetheless often remains a point of fixation for the president, appeared in a recorded comedy bit with Grammy host James Corden. In it, Clinton jokingly auditions for the narrator role for the audio book of Michael Wolff’s explosive book, “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” reading a section alleging that Trump prefers fast food from McDonald’s because he has a longstanding fear of being poisoned.

Corden’s “Fire and Fury” bit, which also included other celebrities reading from the book, prompted online criticism from Donald Trump Jr., who wrote that “getting to read a #fakenews book excerpt at the Grammys seems like a great consolation prize for losing the presidency,” and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, who wrote that she has “always loved the Grammys but to have artists read the Fire and Fury book killed it. Don’t ruin great music with trash.”

he is also jealous of her intellect and expertise. And also her being liked by the entertainment world really burns him to the core.

The presidential candidate who received more votes than any white male president in history?

The woman who would be president if we lived in a democracy?

The fawning reverence and worship of an incoherent, incomprehensible, evil, pathological liar?

Humorous, playful skits produced by a noted comedian and frequent satirist?

What do they want us to not take seriously?

It was meant to be humorous, not serious. Yes it did make fun of Trump...but mostly for his documented dining habits.

It also had Hillary poke fun at herself...so I have this, it is in the bag (overconfident about a “win”).

There are much bigger problems for Trump and this WH (and Ms. Haley) than a skit during the Grammys.

The fact that they felt the need to make a comment shows that it stung. Note: Donny Jr. and Nikki Haley also felt the need to comment. Yeah they "don't take it seriously at all..."

Nobody gets away with mocking him, especially Hillary. He’s probably anger eating a bucket of chicken right this minute, thinking about how to get back at them.
