President Donald Trump kicked off his Executive Time on Thursday morning with something of an attempt to clarify his wild televised meeting with a bipartisan group of lawmakers yesterday, in which he apparently endorsed a number of Democratic gun control proposals.

In Trumps live broadcast meeting, he chastised Republican senators for fearing the NRA, and apparently endorsed Democratic Senator Dianne Feinsteins proposal to ban assault-style weapons, as well as Sen. Amy Klobuchars expanded background checks proposal.
At one point Trump even declared his desire to find a way to allow police to take the guns away from people like the Parkland, Florida school shooter without due process: They shouldve taken them away anyway, whether they had the right or not.
Take the guns first, go through due process second, Trump added, presumably as NRA chief Wayne LaPierre furiously fired a few rounds into his television.

(17,434 posts)one must remember that he has always "respected" women and he's not afraid of the NRA.
Or is this more a case of all those monkeys typing away and eventually typing out the works of Shakespeare?
Which way will the wind blow tomorrow?

(364 posts)That no one expected from him as president is how amazingly weak he is as a leader. He basically just does what the congressional majority wants him to do. I wonder what he will be like if Democrats were to take back Congress.

(2,161 posts)Hes not seeing many now (case in point Bill Nelson not invited to the bipartisan gun law meetup).
Im not sure whether this is a case of him being a spiteful ass, or his advisors trying to prevent another Pelosi/Schumer moment. Probably both.
