Worst of bad US flu season finally over as illnesses decline

NEW YORK (AP) — The worst of the nation’s nasty flu season is finally over.

The season apparently peaked in early February and has been fading since, health officials said Friday. The number of people going to the doctor with symptoms of the flu has continued to decline. Deaths from the flu or pneumonia are going down, too.

While the peak may have passed, the season isn’t finished yet. Reports of flu remained widespread in 45 states, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

“The season’s not over but we’re definitely on the downward trend right now,” said Dr. Anne Schuchat, the CDC’s acting director.

Her lungs were already compromised by pulmonary fibrosis. She simply could not get enough oxygen, even with an oxygen mask. She finally went into a coma, then stopped breathing when they took off the mask. After she passed, I came down with it. I was weak and tired for 3 weeks, just couldn't muster the strength to do anything. Then I had a week of a coughing spasms. Thank goodness, I've been over it for two weeks now.

I was with her for a week as she went downhill. Then at her bedside with her 94-yr-old mom when she passed. It was horrific. I think that's why it took so long to get well again.

Bottom line: get your flu vaccine.

I know I'm sticking my head in the idiot's mouth for posting this.

Start counting how many posts there will be after this with some variation on:

1. "I never get a flu shot, and I never get sick."
2. "The flu shot made me sick."
3. "The flu shot gave my postman's next-door neighbor's garbage collector's cat's veteranarian's son autism."
4. "Vaccines are a pharmaceutical company scam."
5. "The flu vaccine doesn't work. It's a dice-throw every year."

I don't give a shit. This is my 'I-don't-give-a-shit' face:

Get your flu vaccine.
