A college student from southwest suburban Chicago allegedly fatally shot his parents on the campus of Central Michigan University on Friday and remains at large and considered dangerous.
Authorities said Friday evening they have more than 100 officers from multiple agencies continued to search for 19-year-old James Eric Davis, of Plainfield.
The victims were identified by authorities as Davis parents James Eric Davis Sr. and Diva Jeneen Davis. The elder Davis was part-time police officer in west suburban Bellwood and a Illinois National Guard veteran who served in Operational Iraqi Freedom. Diva Davis Facebook page identified her as a real estate broker; friends said she was also a cancer survivor.
The Davises were reportedly picking up their son from his college campus for spring break when the shooting happened.

Don't go fact-checking that statement. Damn your facts! The NRA has theory, a theory tested on talk shows and in the halls of Congress. Why, that's almost like scientific proof.

No excuse.

Seems that there may be more to this than we know at this time. I wonder what the hospital has to say (I also wonder if it is related to psychiatric meds/condition).

(11,908 posts)That would have prevented Davis from taking his father's gun and killing his parents in a gun free zone on campus?

Until we get to a place where it is safe to own arms, no one gets to own them. My right to live my life trumps whatever assumed rights anyone else really has under the 2nd Amendment.

(11,908 posts)Given his dad was a part time police officer, what legislation would they pass that would have not allowed him to have a handgun?
Go ahead and jail his dead father for letting it get into Davis Jr. hands; that will show him.
I don't see a feasible legislative solution for this specific situation other than a total repeal of the 2nd amendment and confiscating all guns including from even police
