Bush says Trump 'makes me look pretty good' by comparison: report
Source: The Hill
BY JOHN BOWDEN - 03/06/18 09:26 AM EST
Former President George W. Bush often jokes that President Trump's administration makes his own former White House team look "pretty good," according to a Republican source.
The former Republican president regularly knocks the current administration, a source close to the Trump administration told National Journal, unable to understand why the White House often seems to be in chaos.
"Bush is often heard to remark, unable to stifle his trademark smirk: 'Sorta makes me look pretty good, doesn't it?' " the Journal reported.
"He's shaking his head like everyone else wondering why they can't get their act together," the source added. "He wants the guy to succeed but thinks a lot of his problems are self-inflicted."

(4,429 posts)and I have many horrible memories of how bad it was, back then.
Even though he was a terrible president, he aspired to be a good one (and a good person).

(2,541 posts)I thought Bush was going to be the worst President ever. That after him we could only go up...and we did for eight years. But now we have gone back down. Bush is still the worst IMO, hundreds of thousands of people died because of the wars he started. Trump is horrible but up to this point he has not started any wars...yet, he still has time.
The really depressing thing is while at this moment trump is the worst, somewhere there is someone who will be worse than trump...
Imagine if one of his sons became president in the future...I would like to think that trump is serving as a wake up call for Americans about the importance of voting and that voter turn out will be better in future elections but I am not sanguine about that aspect and even if turn out is better there is no guarantee that voters will be informed. We got punkd by Russia in the last election and we have done nothing to prevent that from happening again. I will stop here before the nihilistic part of me gains the upper hand.

(47,285 posts)Bush was responsible for the deaths of far too many people, as well as torture. He was a terrible president, but as a person, he is far more human than what we have now. At least Bush knows he was a bad president.

(47,285 posts)to top his father. Men with "daddy issues" often make terrible choices. He was obsessed with taking out Saddam. I think Cheney was responsible for the more evil aspects of the administration. That was one very dark individual.

(70,450 posts)He started that unneeded war in Iraq so Dick Cheney could grift billions and got hell on
earth which brought on ISIS and one of the world's biggest refugee crisis.
BTW Trump would never gotten close to the White House w/out actions by w ...... HAVA,
Alito & Roberts on the Supreme Court which then gave us Citizen's United & a roll back
to the voting rights act.
Although Cheeto's certainly working on it.

(1,748 posts)don't miss GWB: his failed, illegal wars, Guantanamo prison camps, and Supreme Court appointments alone render him among the worst presidents.

(3,496 posts)President George W. Bush lashed out about our dear leader Donald trump. In a sign of senility Bush exclaims "He sorta makes me look good" as he ate paint from his paint brush.
Exclusive tonight on Hannity John Bolton explains how Bush was wrong on everything and how trump is always right.

(5,801 posts)we haven't forgotten that the weaponization of the judiciary really got rolling during your administration, when kkk rove fired all the U.S. Attorneys who refused to go along with the phony voter fraud investigation, plus conspiring against and then jailing a political opponent, Don Siegelman.
You really started us on the road to being a banana republic. And, you're a war criminal.
You just had better training from your venomous family, put on a better act, and had better handlers than dump.

(6,930 posts)While Bush.IDIOT is a much more personable/like able guy than Trump he caused damage that was unbelievable. I couldn't fucking IMAGINE people in 2008 in their 60's and retired or getting ready to retire and watching their 401k/IRA IMPLODE day after day. Hopefully they had the cash to hold on as Obama got the stock market moving upward again but it took years to recover.
Then Bush just for fun and games invades a Country who had ZIP to do with 911 and everything to do with OIL. Meanwhile the price at the pump was 4.00 per gallon here in the Midwest as the economy hit rock bottom.
No...your BOTH cut from the same NEO CON cloth. BIG tax cuts for the RICH,Wars for the profiteers and FUCK the rest of us.

(5,969 posts)The Bush Admin seemed way more professional. Bush in retrospect seems more competent than Trump by a mile and isn't such a vile, stupid pos. In that regard, Trump makes him look good. But policy wise, we have only one year to judge and the results of Bush's presidency hurt and killed way more people. Unless Trump starts a war with North Korea, there is still some distance between the two regarding negative consequences of their decisions.
Bush also seems more of a traditional politician/statesman with his attitude that he wants Trump to succeed. That is the same thing his father wrote in his farewell letter to Bill Clinton when Clinton took over and there is nothing wrong with that. Usually, a President that is regarded as successful is good for the country. In Trump's case, it would be a disaster, though.
