Iowa State Senate leader resigns after release of video that shows him kissing lobbyist

Source: Omaha World Herald

DES MOINES (AP) — The majority leader of the Iowa Senate resigned Monday after a website published video and photos showing the married lawmaker kissing a Statehouse lobbyist.

Bill Dix submitted a one-sentence resignation letter several hours after the liberal website Iowa Starting Line published its report about the Shell Rock Republican.

Dix did not comment on the circumstances surrounding his resignation as majority leader and as state senator, though Republican Senate President Jack Whitver alluded to the website's allegations in a statement.

"I believe he made the right decision for himself and for his district, but most importantly, I believe he made the decision in the best interest of his family," said Whitver about Dix.

I mean, really! I'm no prude, but it doesn't seem like any one is actually paying attention to just doing the hard work of sitting down and being a policy wonk. Ever. Anywhere.

In short he was everything that the members of the Republican Party are not.

There are lots of good Democratic politicians and other public servants out there.

Since the GOP was taken over by corruption, though, large numbers of good people on the right mostly haven't been willing to do what it takes to get elected and what they have to do once elected. This has been studied. Most of the many conservative families that have a tradition of public service have been staying out for a long time now.

Thus, CONSERVATIVE POLITICS has seen a sifting-out (and purges) of honorable people and a choosing for dishonorable ones, who are typically glad to do what it takes to earn the opportunities for eventual wealth the corrupt party opens for those who serve well. That's why all the shocking stories have become so common. They're choosing for scumbags.
