Schumer: Trump 'floating trial balloons about derailing' Mueller probe

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on Sunday that President Trump is "floating trial balloons about derailing" special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

Schumer added in a statement that Republicans have an obligation to ensure that the special counsel can continue his investigation into Russia's election interference and any ties between Trump's campaign and Moscow after the president questioned the makeup of Mueller’s team.

"Our Republican colleagues, particularly the leadership, have an obligation to our country to stand up now and make it clear that firing Mueller is a red line for our democracy that cannot be crossed," the New York Democrat said.

Schumer’s comments came shortly after Trump tweeted that Mueller’s team is made up of a large number of Democrats and no Republicans.

9. We take it as true that Mueller has only Dems on his team? Why would we believe that?

He LIES, and Mueller is not about to start responding to Trump's attacks.

It is highly unlikely that Mueller has only Dems on his investigation team. Mueller himself is a Repub, so there's that. But it's very unlikely that all the investigators are Dems. Mueller has a lot of investigators AND their assistants. No way they are all Dems.

It's an attempt to discredit the investigation, and also gives Trumpers the meme to start spouting. Like "lock her up."
