McConnell: Mueller isn't 'going anywhere'

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday defended Robert Mueller after President Trump blasted the special counsel's investigation over the weekend as biased.
-snip-
McConnell argued that speculation of Muellers imminent ouster is overheated and that Trumps lawyers agree he should be allowed to wrap up his investigation. I dont think Bob Mueller is going anywhere, McConnell told reporters. The presidents lawyers obviously agree that he ought to be allowed to finish the job.
McConnell called Mueller a thoroughly credible individual and an appropriate appointment to serve as special counsel.
We all anticipate him finishing the job and telling the American people what they need to know about this episode, he said.

(48,788 posts)1. Not going to be fired. Maybe. We certainly hope he won't be but tRump's word on it is no good.
2. Dead end investigation. McCONnell certainly hopes so. He is surely complicit: Merrick Garland denied a nomination because McCONnell knew something was in the works; lots of money sloshing around McCONnell's campaign, his wife Elaine Chow gets cushy cabinet job, and at a critical point in 2016 McCONnell blocked Obama from warning states' electoral commissions about Russian hacking and interference. I think there is other stuff as well that points to his complicity.

(7,380 posts)How is it that when Trump's lawyers call for an end to the investigation you think it means they think Mueller should be allowed to "finish the job?"
I wonder what lying as a way of life does to you after a while.
