But after that first bombing, if anyone came into any postal service, anywhere in the country, wearing gloves to deliver a package, I would think alarm bells should have been going off in the postal employees' heads and they would have at least reported their suspicions to the police!

Where is he from? Conditt was from Texas and lived in Pflugerville, a city about 20 miles north of Austin, Texas, where the bombings were carried out.
He worked at Crux Semiconductor, a manufacturer in Austin, as a purchasing agent/buyer in shipping and receiving according to a profile on a job recruiting website.
He previously worked as a computer repair technician.
Chief Brian Manley said he was staying in a hotel in Austin that surveillance teams had been watching, waiting for specialist ballistic vehicles to arrive, when he fled moments before detonating a bomb and killing himself.

ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) The Latest on the Austin bombings (all times local):

A neighbor who watched the Austin bombing suspect grow up says he "always seemed like he was smart" and "polite."
Jeff Reeb said Wednesday that he's lived next to the parents of Mark Anthony Conditt for about 17 years and that they are good neighbors.
Reeb says Mark Conditt and his grandson played together into middle school and that Conditt visited his parents regularly.

| PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS
Investigators began scouring the property of the family of the Austin bombing suspect Wednesday morning, hours after the suspect blew himself up as police closed in, apparently bringing the bombing campaign that terrorized Texas' capital to an end.
In the northeastern Austin suburb of Pflugerville, federal and local law enforcement officials searched two sheds and trash bins outside the two-story family home of Mark Anthony Conditt, where the shades were drawn. A U.S. flag flew out front.
. . .
Conditt took classes at Austin Community College between 2010 and 2012 while attending high school, according to college officials and a social media post from his mother, which said he graduated from high school in 2013.
"He's thinking of taking some time to figure out what he wants to do....maybe a mission trip," said a Facebook post from Danene Conditt, which included a photo of Mark Conditt.

(14,490 posts)This guy probably learned how to build these bombs on-line, and like some other national terroristic tragedies, there could be copycats. I hope the FBI and Homeland Security are following that possibility.
One of our biggest fears should be that a large group doing this in unison could almost bring us to our knees, considering the amount of commerce that's done by common shippers these days.
It is, however, great that the carriers all have good security monitoring at their facilities so these criminals can be stopped quickly.

(1,204 posts)Glad he screwed up and they were able to catch him. Shame he took the coward route instead of letting himself be caught. Other than some stuff from 2012, I don't think they have found much about him online.
Any sign of him being part of the recent alt-right movement? I mean, I know he's from a religious and conservative family, but I am curious if he had any direct involvement with those people.
