Gun control marches are being held Saturday in every U.S. state and on every continent except Antarctica. While the main March for Our Lives is expected to draw more than 500,000 people to Washington, D.C., hundreds of thousands more will attend the more than 800 sibling marches worldwide, according to the March for Our Lives website.
The march, organized by student survivors of the Parkland, Florida high school shooting last month, is intended to demand lawmakers act on gun control and school safety.
Photos posted on social media Saturday morning from international marches showed thousands of young people in the UK, New Zealand, Japan, Sweden and other nations marching in solidarity with U.S. students.
Many celebrities, lawmakers and other prominent figures joined in the marches or donated to the movement in support of the students.

(26,568 posts)why, in the morning news before Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me is there a segment about a March for our Guns in Montana. Why does NPR consider this newsworthy?

(5,376 posts)I'm becoming increasingly disenchanted with NPR lately, so far not to the point of withholding my rather small annual donation. I do like Wait, Wait, though. That and Puzzlemaster Will Shortz are among my favorites. I can't imagine why they ran the segment about the gathering of gun nuts in Montana. Thanks for contacting them. Would be interested to hear their response, if they should choose to do so.
Blessings!
