Trump to fire Shulkin

Source: The Hill

President Trump is preparing to fire Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary David Shulkin, according to a report from The Associated Press.

A source told the outlet that there is a "50-50" chance the president will oust Shulkin within the next two days.

Shulkin has faced backlash after an inspector general report said he misspent taxpayer money on lavish travel for himself and his wife.

The Hill has reached out to the White House and the VA for comment.

where he was Under Secretary. The confirmation vote was 100-0. It appears that Trump in his usual selection of talent picked one of the worst from Obama's administration to retain.

The lavish spending excuse, with the shit Trump has been pulling ... is a friggin' joke. I don't really support castigating Carson either if Trump isn't going to be accountable ... why would we NOT expect his admin to follow his lead in this regard?

Him firing people for 'overspending' unless it's REALLY extreme ... is a joke. In reality, it's likely just part of the 'purge' of the 'disloyal' Obama-lovers still in gov't.

It could have been a case of why can't I get mine, everybody else at this table is doing it? Might even be a good quote if he is fired.

They can't throw some suitcases in the minivan and roll. Or buy a ticket at the airport counter. Secret Service limits the options.

Shulkin can (and should) fly commercial.

That costs the taxpayer plenty. Many times his kids are flying with him, I don't mean Barron, I mean the adult kids.

... the less he screws the country.

But no, I think he should work most weekends in DC, like most presidents.

As for his kids, it probably saves money if Don Jr and Eric and Ivanka are with him. They ride on the same plane and use fewer Secret Service than if they all go to different destinations.

I think his flights are cheap, compared to his damn tax cuts for the rich.

if him and Judicial Watch hadn't been up Obama's butt. The way I see it is that Trump is like both Bush and Obama. He takes as many vacations as Bush, but Bush went someplace inexpensive; and he goes to expensive places like Obama but a far higher rate.

Trump also gets paid since the government support staff and security have to pay his resort rates for the trip.

Something to be said for Obama's vacations. He at least tried to see other parts of the world even in his leisure time. Something I think is beneficial for a world leader like the President.

I really miss Obama.

Note to the congress-critters:

Here’s the story, titled “Whose Job Is It, Anyway?”

There was an important job to be done.
Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job.
Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

IMPEACH HIM NOW !

Shulkin getting the boot has far less to do with his travel issue than it does with his conflict with pro-Koch Brother VA political appointees under him that want to privatize the VA. Shulkin is not for complete privatization and his ouster is viewed by these Koch-funded political hacks as a way of getting that barrier out of the way.
