Argentine President Fernandez 'did not have cancer'

Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner did not have cancer after all, the presidential spokesman has said.

Ms Fernandez underwent an operation last Wednesday aimed at treating suspected thyroid cancer.

Supporters gathered in vigil at the hospital amid huge public interest.

But post-operative tests had definitively ruled out the presence of cancerous cells in removed nodules, spokesman Alfredo Scoccimarro said.

What a relief for those of us who've been following the news there.

Her country most definitely needs the great good she can do, has done, as a progressive following the decades of living hell forced upon the citizens by the Argentinian ethics-free right-wing with U.S. right-wing support, first through a hatred-driven murderous, torture-freak right-wing military dictatorship, supported by Henry Kissinger, then a devastating financial wreck.

Thank you, dipsydoodle. So glad to see your post.

could you possibly at least acknowledge this apparent good fortune?

Chavez' musings are irrelevant here.

Argentine leader’s thyroid wasn’t cancerous after all; now she faces lifetime hormone therapy
By Associated Press, Updated: Saturday, January 7, 5:14 PM

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Argentine President Cristina Fernandez didn’t have cancer after all.

After having some of Argentina’s leading cancer surgeons completely remove her thyroid gland, tests showed no presence of any cancerous cells in the tissue, presidential spokesman Alfredo Scoccimarro said Saturday.

“The Presidential Medical Unit has the satisfaction of communicating that the team at the Austral University Hospital informed that tissue studies ruled out the presence of cancerous cells in the thyroid glands, thus modifying the initial diagnosis,” Scoccimarro said.

Fernandez doesn’t even have to swallow the radioactive iodine that patients usually take after thyroid cancer surgery, to make sure any remaining cancer cells are killed, the spokesman said.

It's no big deal-- I've been taking thyroid pills because I've low thyroid.

The US didn't give Cristina cancer. What will Chavez say now?

On a serious note, I'm glad that she's OK.
